Amylase, glucoamylase, and alpha-galactosidase are enzymes that digest complex carbohydrates, in particular, polysaccharides. These enzymes are also helpful in digesting vegetables that produce gases during their decomposition (e.g. beans).

Cellulase is an enzyme of the hydrolase class. The human body is not capable of synthesising cellulase. Because of that, dietary fibre is not digested and used as a source of energy. What is Lactobacillus acidophilus?

Lactobacillus acidophilus is a strain of rod-shaped bacteria with the ability to produce lactic acid which is beneficial to our health. These bacteria reside mainly in the intestinal mucosa.
