Doctor's Best Digestive Enzymes is a complex dietary supplement which includes a unique blend of a dozen carefully selected digestive enzymes to promote the proper functioning of the digestive system. Taken during the meal, the enzymes help improve digestion and prevent digestive disorders such as bloating, gas colic, heartburn, indigestion or a feeling of overeating in the stomach.

The product contains a complete set of digestive enzymes to facilitate the breakdown of both proteins, fats, carbohydrates as well as cellulose and lactose. In addition, the supplement has been enriched with beneficial bacteria Bacillus subtilis, which contribute to maintaining intestines in their optimum condition.

The role of enzymes in digestion process
Digestive enzymes are a group of substances produced in the digestive system, which are the catalysts for the breakdown of complex compounds to simple ones. As a result of this process, the consumed food is digested and its nutrients are assimilated. Correct digestion is necessary for the body to optimally utilise the delivered food.

Digestive disorders are associated with numerous unpleasant gastrointestinal symptoms (bloating, colics, nausea, gas and pain). They influence adversely the whole body. Deprived of key nutrients, the organism gets sick, becomes weakened and susceptible to harmful action of external factors.

Fortunately, the supplementation of proper blends with digestive enzymes can definitely improve digestion, reduce stomach discomfort and help to improve the absorption of essential nutrients.

Doctor's Best Digestive Enzymes consists of the following components:

Proteolytic enzymes or proteases (including papain, bromelain) are the enzymes digesting protein from animals and plants (e.g. gluten derived from wheat) or milk protein (casein).

Lipase – an enzyme responsible for breaking down fats to individual fatty acids and facilitating the absorption of essential fat-soluble nutrients (e.g. omega-3 fatty acids).

Amylase is the only enzyme catalysing the breakdown of polysaccharides into simple sugars, which affects the digestion of carbohydrates.

Cellulase and hemicellulase are two enzymes digesting cellulose. They must be delivered externally with food, because the human body does not produce digestive enzymes breaking down dietary fibre, which is the major component of vegetables found in any basic healthy diet.

Beta-glucanase – responsible for the decomposition of non-starch polysaccharides. It increases the bioavailability of nutrients contained in the fibrous matrix of plant cell walls.

Lactase – is used to break down milk sugar (lactose) to glucose and galactose. It is particularly important because lactose intolerance is one of the most frequent food intolerances among adults.

Xylanase – catalyses the breakdown of xylan and arabinian – two harmful substances forming solutions with high viscosity and contributing to reduced digestibility of nutrients from food.

Phytase – neutralises phytic acid (found especially in large quantities in cereals) which is a typical antinutrient. Not only does it block the absorption of valuable minerals but also inhibit the activity of other enzymes, e.g. pepsin, necessary to digest protein, or amylase needed to break down starch.

Invertase – accountable for the inversion process that is the breakdown of sucrose to fructose and glucose molecules.

Glucoamylase – prepares complex carbohydrates for the absorption in intestinal villi, i.e. it catalyses the breakdown of starch and glycogen to glucose or maltose.

Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4) – a very important enzyme that breaks down gluten and casein, which is the most common cause of digestive discomfort, to smaller and more assimilable molecules.

Alpha-galactosidase – aids in the absorption of carbohydrates, is responsible for the decomposition of oligosaccharides (found especially in legumes).

Bacillus subtilis – probiotic bacteria commonly used in the treatment of many symptoms of digestive disorders. It displaces pathogenic intestinal bacteria, improves digestion and helps to eliminate gastrointestinal problems.

All these substances are invaluable for the correct functioning of the digestive system. The manufacturer of Best Digestive Enzymes made sure to include all necessary and carefully selected enzymes in the product, actively promoting digestion. Just one capsule added to the meal will ensure proper digestion and protect you from all unpleasant gastrointestinal problems.
