Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, is an essential building material of every living cell, which is why it is said that it is present everywhere. Its active form is coenzyme A, which is involved in numerous metabolic processes.

Pantothenic acid is important to us for several reasons. Low levels of vitamin B5 in the body system will result in reduced immunity. Pantothenic acid is involved in the production of antibodies which protect the body system from viral and bacterial infections, so it is an invaluable support for our autoimmune system.

Especially people actively involved in sports should pay attention to the proper level of vitamin B5. It determinates the proper conduction of energy release process and prevents fatigue. Its deficiencies can cause problems with coordination, which are linked with pain and stiffness of joints and muscle contractions.

Vitamin B5 is also important for skin and mucous membranes. It accelerates wound healing, slows down the aging process and prevents from the formation of wrinkles. It also improves hair condition, positively influences its pigmentation and delays hair greying. Due to its proven anti-inflammatory and anti-seborrhoeic properties, vitamin B5 is often used in the treatment of acne.

Supplementation with vitamin B5 is essential for older people and for those who are overtired or under the influence of prolonged stress. Low level of vitamin B5 in the body system is also more possible to occur in people who abuse alcohol, suffer from diseases of the digestive system, women who use oral hormonal contraception and professional athletes.
