  • Facilitates metabolic transformations of the organism
  • Easily assimilable and quick energy source
  • Is not stored in the form of fatty tissue
  • Saves the supplies of muscle glycogen
  • Helps to maintain proper body mass
  • Has thermogenic properties

Now Foods MCT Oil 100% Pure is pure MCT oil in the liquid form. The preparation is a rich and efficient source of energy, stimulates thermogenesis, has bactericidal effect and supports weight loss.

MCT Oil is a liquid mixture of medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), which are found primarily in coconut and palm oil, but also appear in dairy products (milk, cream, butter).

MCT fats contain short carbon chains – from 6 to 10 carbon atoms and, among others due to the length of the chain, they have a range of features that distinguish them from other fatty acids. MCT oil is attributed multidirectional influence on the proper functioning of the whole organism.

MCT fats characteristics
MCT fats are subjected to hydrolysis on the surface of the intestinal mucosa faster than LCT and moreover, micelles are not necessary for their absorption. MCT fats may be transported to the cells of the small intestine, skipping the process of hydrolysis to glycerol and fatty acids (MCFA) and from the digestive tract they are absorbed directly through the portal vein to blood vessels of the liver. Medium-chain triglycerides do not require additional compounds, such as e.g. carnitine to permeate to the inside of a mitochondrion and at the moment of the delivery to the target place, they are immediately burnt in the process of beta-oxidation. Interestingly, MCT provide around 10% calories less than long-chain fatty acids (LCT) – 8,3 calories/1 g MCT, instead of 9.

MCT fats and diseases
Because of the fact that MCT fats quickly absorb to the bloodstream and are transported in the form of chylomicrons, they do not contribute to the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, e.g. atherosclerosis. Additionally, they are used in the states of fat malabsorption and undernourishment (e.g. in cystic fibrosis), liver diseases or other metabolic diseases and those related to malabsorption (short bowel syndrome, coeliac syndrome). MCT fats are also used as the source of energy in parenteral nutrition.

Energy source for sportsmen
Using MCT oil may turn out to be especially beneficial to people practicing regular and intensive physical activity. Thanks to the properties of MCT fatty acids allowing for their quick absorption and transformation, their immediate utilization by organs and muscles is possible as well as saving glycogen supplies in the muscles during training. MCT oil, being a quick energy source, facilitates regeneration and may have a supportive effect both in the period of building muscle mass and in case of weight loss.

Help in maintaining proper body mass
MCT oil may support the control over food intake, as it contributes to lowering appetite. The mechanism of its activity has not yet been discovered, however, it is suspected that it may be related to the character of MCT fats and the way of their digestion, absorption and utilization by the organism. Apart from the fact that MCT contain fewer calories than LCT, they are not stored in the organism. Moreover, it was proven that MCT facilitate thermogenesis and help to burn fat faster and scientific studies confirmed the relationship between the positive influence of the oil on reducing the amount of food consumed during the day and the help in achieving a dreamed silhouette.

A positive effect of MCT oil was also observed in visceral (splanchnic) reduction of fatty tissue. This tissue is stored in the central part of the body, in abdominal cavity, around the organs essential for life. Visceral adipose tissue is the cause of the so-called abdominal obesity of “apple” type (other names are: android, splanchnic, visceral, central obesity) and most often accompanies men and women after menopause. The results of some scientific studies proved that the presence of medium-chain fatty acids in a diet may be the factor contributing to the loss of the majority of visceral adipose tissue.

Summing up, Now Foods MCT Oil 100% Pure may be a valuable additive to our diet, especially among physically active people. High energy concentration, immediate absorption, protection of glycogen stores and lack of tendency to be stored in the form of fatty tissue make MCT oil an ideal product not only for sportsmen, but also for people who want to naturally maintain proper body mass.
