Olimp Chela-Mag B6 is a dietary supplement with magnesium amino acid chelate Albion®, i.e. a highly bioavailable and hypoallergenic form of magnesium. The formulation helps prevent deficiencies of this element and has multiple positive effects on the functioning of the body. The supplement has been enriched with vitamin B6 which greatly enhances the effects of magnesium.

Magnesium, as the fourth most abundant mineral in the body, is one of the most important elements. It is required for normal functioning of the body, e.g. because of its role in the activation of over 300 enzymes. Magnesium is involved in energy, protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism and nucleic acid synthesis. What is more, it is a component of bones and soft tissues and helps stabilise the cell membrane.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) – functions as a cofactor of over 140 enzymatic reactions. Like magnesium, it takes part in many metabolic processes. It also contributes to normal immune function (takes part in the synthesis of antibodies), promotes a healthy cardiovascular system (reduces blood homocysteine levels) and is necessary for maintaining the proper structure of myelin protecting the nerve fibres.

Better mood and reduced mental fatigue
There many factors contributing to magnesium deficiency in the body. Nonetheless, mental stress is one of the most common causes in healthy working persons. Stressful situations lead to an increase in magnesium excretion in the body. This is also manifested in depression, anxiety disorders, low mood and sleeping difficulties.

Interestingly, magnesium deficiency has been observed to cause headaches. This probably because low magnesium levels inhibit the release of nitric oxide (NO), responsible for the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle. Abnormal, specifically high muscle tone in brain arteries may be manifested in headaches.

Positive impact on motor skills
Nowadays, a fast pace of life and mental and physical strain cause magnesium deficiency. Apart from impairing cognitive functions, it disrupts neuromuscular transmission, which may be manifested in weakness, poor muscle strength and painful muscle cramps.

Normal magnesium levels in the body help maintain normal nerve impulse transmission and promote optimal muscle function. They are also necessary for efficient metabolic processes. Importantly, magnesium is believed to be a prerequisite for protein synthesis, which makes it an extremely important element for physically active individuals.

Efficient cardiovascular system
Magnesium improves systolic myocardial function and is therefore a vital preventive measure against ischaemic heart disease The element has a major role in the normalisation of blood pressure. As it turns out, magnesium deficiency causes hypertension. This element has antihypertensive properties because it functions as an antagonist of calcium. This may cause the relaxation of the vascular smooth muscle, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Magnesium and vitamin B6 – a perfect combination
It has been demonstrated that vitamin B6 may increase intestinal absorption of magnesium. In addition, both substances exert synergistic effects, especially by reducing fatigue and improving sleep. One of the studies has shown that magnesium and vitamin B6 aids in relieving symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

To sum up, Olimp Chela-Mag B6 is a dietary supplement which helps meet the daily requirement of magnesium. It supports optimal function of muscles and nervous and cardiovascular system. It is recommended especially for mental and physical fatigue and frequent or prolonged exposure to stress. It can be also a preventive measure against migraine.
