Now Foods Female Balance ™ is a dietary supplement that supports the female body. The preparation includes a set of carefully selected plant extracts, enriched with a big dose of folic acid and vitamin B6.

The supplement was designed specifically for the fair sex. It positively affects the hormonal balance and helps to cope with typical female health issues, both those associated with the menstrual cycle (irregular or profuse bleeding, PMS), and characteristic for menopause (hot flushes, weakness of libido, mood swings, night sweats) .

Vitamin B6, called pyridoxine, belongs to the group of water-soluble B vitamins. High, therapeutic doses of this vitamin are commonly used among women suffering from severe symptoms of PMS or PMDD. It is assumed that the bad mood and mood swings in the period preceding menstruation are caused, among others, by too low serotonin levels. Pyridoxine is involved in the production of both serotonin and dopamine, therefore increasing its supply may contribute to the alleviation of unpleasant symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric disorders.

Folic acid, called B9 vitamin, is another representative of B group vitamins. It plays a key role in the conversion of homocysteine, thus contributing to the reduction of the risk of cardiovascular disorders. In addition, it has a beneficial effect on hormonal balance. Researchers have demonstrated that there is a association between folic acid supplementation and the length of the menstrual cycle and the time and intensity of bleeding. It is well known that folic acid should be taken by pregnant women in order to minimize fetal malformations, but nowadays the supplementation of folic acid deficiency should be also considered by women complaining of irregular menstruation.

Borage seed oil is an excellent source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which belongs to the group of omega-6 fatty acids. It has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, also promotes the reduction of cholesterol level and prevents the loss of bone mass. It also has a very beneficial effect on the condition of the skin - helps to maintain the right level of hydration, increases flexibility, protects against the formation of wrinkles. In traditional folk medicine, borage seed oil is also used to relieve premenstrual syndrome and eliminate symptoms of menopause.

Wild Yam (Dioscorea villosa) is a plant extremely rich in diosgenin and other phytoestrogens. Extracts from its underground parts have been used for centuries to relieve typical female ailments, both related to PMS and dysmenorrhea, as well as those characteristic of mature age and menopausal period. In addition, it has been proven that bioactive substances present in the plant promote cholesterol reduction, and thus can protect cardiovascular system.

Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis), or female ginseng, is a plant originating from traditional Chinese medicine. Its underground parts are extremely rich in phytoestrogens, which is why the extracts from the plant are great at the time of menopause, when the endogenous production of estrogen weakens, resulting in a number of adverse changes in the body. They can be helpful also for women of childbearing age - they have analgesic effect and ease cramps, bringing relief in the case of long, heavy and painful menstruation. It is worth mentioning that the herb is considered an aphrodisiac - it increases libido, but it mainly affects women and not men.

Chaste tree (Vitex agnus castus) is a plant native to Mediterranean region. Its fruits contain a set of unique, synergistically acting chemical compounds that have an extremely beneficial effect on the female endocrine system. Using complex mechanisms of action, they can limit excessive production of prolactin and normalize progesterone levels. Thanks to this, they are great for menstrual disorders and for weakening of fertility. They can be helpful in problems with the complexion, occurring as a result of hormonal imbalance. Extracts from the fruit of the chaste tree are also successfully used to relieve the symptoms of menopause and premenopause.

Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa) is a plant native to North America. The therapeutic raw material is in its underground parts - rhizomes and roots, containing bioactive compounds from the group of triterpene glycosides, isoflavones and alkaloids. They work similarly to SERMs (selective estrogen receptor modulators). In addition, they affect the serotonergic and dopaminergic systems. Thanks to this, they work well as a remedy for almost all symptoms of menopause, both physical (night sweats, hot flushes), as well as psychological (emotional instability, low mood, irritability). Black Cohosh is also recommended for women who are struggling with severe symptoms of PMS and malaise during menstruation (abdominal pain, back pain, heavy bleeding). Plant extracts are also successfully used as a support for PCOS and uterine fibroids.

In summary, Now Foods Female Balance™ is a supplement that promotes homeostasis in the female body and facilitates combating troublesome ailments associated with the menstrual cycle or menopause. The preparation contains only natural plant extracts and vitamins, thanks to which its safety profile is high and does not raise concerns about possible side effects.
