Swanson DIM Complex is a dietary supplement composed of the highest quality diindolylmethane (DIM) in the patented, stable form of BioDIM ™. The complex formed from the combination of DIM with vitamin E, phospholipids and silica guarantees its high bioavailability and ideal absorption of the active substance, which results in increased effectiveness of its action.

The product is especially recommended for women who are exposed to an increased risk of cancers as a result of the hormonal balance disorders related to estrogen. Risk factors include, among others: age (the risk increases with age, usually after 45 years of age), late menopause (over 55 years of age), early menstruation (before 12 years of age), genetic predisposition, improper diet, stress. It also works well in men showing signs of estrogen dominance, suffering from prostate dysfunction or low testosterone levels.

Diindolylmethan is formed in our bodies as a result of the hydrolytic degradation of glucosinolates, compounds that occur in vegetable from cabbage family (Brassicaceae), to which belong broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. Unfortunately, this compound is quite unstable and breaks down under heat treatment which leads to a significant decline in its bioavailability.

The main mechanism of DIM action is based on its ability to change the model of estrogen transformations. The compound contributes to the increase in the level of beneficial 2-hydroxyestrone in relation to 16a-hydroxyestrone, which is believed to have carcinogenic properties.

DIM promotes the normalization of estrogen levels ‒ it prevents fluctuations and protects from excessive growth or decline in estrogen levels. Moreover, DIM is an aromatase inhibitor, so that it limits the conversion of testosterone to estrogen. The mechanism of diindolylmethan action contributes to the reduction in the activity of estrogens in the body system as well as minimizes their harmful forms.

Numerous scientific studies have shown that consumption of vegetables from cabbage family has a beneficial influence on the reduction in the risk of cancer, in particular breast, endometrial and cervical cancers. The occurrence of these cancers has been linked i.e. with estrogen. The anti-estrogenic properties of DIM are related with its ability to reduce the sensitivity of cells to the effects of estrogen and to inhibit their proliferation and gene expression of estrogen receptor. Moreover, DIM shows protective properties and increases the activity of the enzyme responsible for the repair processes of genes and whose low level can be observed in the case of breast cancer.

It has been proven that in men struggling with the problem of estrogen dominance the risk of prostate function disorders increases. This can be prevented, inter alia, by implementing DIM supplementation. This compound promotes an optimal hormonal balance and promotes the maintenance of testosterone and 2-hydroxyestrone levels at an appropriate level. Thus, it supports the health of the prostate and reduces the risk of both BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and cancer.

To sum it all up, Swanson DIM Complex is a product designed specifically for women who are exposed to an increased risk of estrogen-related types of cancer, which could be affected by i.e. early menstruation and late menopause, the age over 45 years and the occurrence of cancer in the family.

The supplement stabilizes the level of beneficial estrogen and protects the body system, in particular, the cells of breast, uterine body and cervix. It will be a good choice also for men, especially those who enter the period of andropause, or struggle with the excess estrogen.
