  • Natural carotenoid
  • Supports the immune system
  • Strong antioxidant
  • Helps to fight free radicals
  • High-quality tomato extract
  • Prevents cancer

NOW FOODS Lycopene is a dietary supplement with 10 mg of natural lycopene in one capsule, a substance with a strong antioxidant effect. It is a product based on a high-quality tomato extract.

Lycopene - an organic chemical compound of the carotenoid group, unsaturated hydrocarbon whose structure resembles natural rubber. It is a natural colourant of plant origin that makes plants and vegetables red. It is an alkane with the chemical formula C40H56, synthesised by plants and autotrophic bacteria. It has linear geometry. It exhibits the strongest antioxidant properties, which makes it one of the more important representatives of the group. Unlike the other carotenoids, it cannot be converted into retinol.

It occurs in significant amounts in tomatoes, melons and other red fruits (watermelons, red grapefruit, rose hips). Because of its high fat-solubility, it is absorbed best with high-fat meals.

Lycopene is obtained from plant material through extraction with organic solvents under high temperature and pressure conditions.

Lycopene is a cause of numerous changes in the human organism. It exhibits antioxidant properties, thanks to which it fights the activity of free radicals in the organism and prevents oxidative stress. It also plays a role in the maintenance of the right level of cholesterol in the blood and prevents the LDL fraction oxidation. Thanks to those effects, it reduces the risk of circulatory system diseases. It inhibits the formation of free radicals and other harmful molecules. Additionally, it has a positive effect on the look of the skin by protecting collagen fibres and supports the immune system.

In vitro studies demonstrate that lycopene exhibits a protective effect against cancer thanks to two factors: it impedes the formation of substances that cause neoplasms and inhibits unnatural cell division.

To sum up, NOW FOODS Lycopene is a healthy dietary supplement recommended both for women and men. It supports the maintenance of the organism's health and immunity. It is also recommended in cancer prevention.
