Gamma-Tocopherol Gamma-Tocopherol

Swanson Gamma-Tocopherol is a complex of natural forms of vitamin E with the most significant gamma-tocopherol in a dose of 750 mg. The formula has been enriched with a complex of beta and delta tocopherols (290 mg) and vitamin E as alpha-tocopherol (200 IU). Such composition corrects dietary deficiencies and shows many health benefits vital to the body.

Gamma-Tocopherol – occurs naturally in plant products e.g. sesame seeds, walnuts, soya and corn. Its receptors are found in all organs of our body, e.g. the heart, kidneys, adrenal glands, skin or even adipose tissue. The latest studies show that gamma-tocopherol can have more beneficial impact on the overall health than alpha-tocopherol due to better tissue bioavailability.

Beta/delta tocopherol complex – contains other forms of natural vitamin E which enhances and supports the action of gamma-tocopherol.

Vitamin E deficiency is caused by improper and poorly balanced diet, alcohol consumption and drug administration which lead to a range of symptoms, i.e. chronic fatigue, weakened immunity, muscle pains or skin dryness.

Antioxidant properties
Vitamin E, along with vitamin A, C, D and selenium, is the major substance showing strong antioxidative properties in our body. They corrects effectively imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in the body, protects polyunsaturated fatty acids against the oxidation to perioxides. By acquired mechanisms, vitamin E prevents oxidation processes in the body, thereby inhibiting the formation of free radicals which are responsible for the development of various diseases and accelerate cell ageing.

It has been proven that vitamin E intake is correlated with a decreased incidence of asthma and reduces dyspnoeic attacks in individuals suffering from this disease. It is caused by a reduction in oxidative stress in the lungs. Reduced inflammation and overall improvement of patients’ well-being have been observed in diseases such as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or ulcerative colitis.

Studies on patients with hair loss have demonstrated that decreasing oxidative stress by the administration of high doses of vitamin E for 8 months resulted in increased hair growth by about 40 %.

Due to strong antioxidant properties, vitamin E is used in cancer prevention. Free radicals, which cause damage to DNA cells, contribute to many mutations and incorrect cell division. This can lead in turn to the development of a dangerous cancer. It is important therefore to start the supplementation with antioxidants which reduce the incidence of diseases of affluence.

The effect on lipids and the cardiovascular system
It has been demonstrated that proper vitamin E doses may have an impact on serum LDL cholesterol levels which prevents atherosclerotic plaque formation in blood vessels. Vitamin E deficiency carries a risk of serious cardiovascular complications. It is believed that vitamin E can reverse negative effects of metabolic syndrome by contributing to the regulation of blood lipids and glucose levels, decrease in blood pressure and reduction in atherosclerosis lesions. Moreover, it prevents blood platelet aggregation and thus protects from thrombosis.

Immune support
Study results show that vitamin E supplementation stimulates T lymphocytes into becoming more active, boosting immunity and improving immune functions. In addition, it improves and regulates functions of mitochondria which act as a energy centre of the cell. Vitamin E is used also during vaccinations because it boosts the immune response and consequently supports treatment.

Vitamin E and sex organs
Severe vitamin E deficiencies are correlated with an increased incidence of prostate cancer and contribute to male fertility problems. Tocopherols are therefore necessary for spermatogenesis, namely during sperm development and maturation.

Studies on women have demonstrated that vitamin E administration before or after menstruation effectively reduces heavy bleeding, pain, its duration and symptoms of PMS (premenstrual syndrome).

Athletic support
Owing to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, vitamin E can be used by athletes for great muscle pain and injuries caused by intensive physical activity.

To sum up, Swanson Gamma-Tocopherol is the best and most available form of vitamin E for our body with many health benefits. Due to its strong antioxidant action, it is used for many diseases and by physically active people.

Vitamin E

Information

Vitamin E (tocopherol) is a fat soluble. Due to its antioxidant action, it is a protection of other vitamins (e.g. Vitamins A). Protects the body against free radicals, strengthens the walls of blood vessels and its capacity, causing their dilation and dissolution of blood clots. With the reduction of coagulation, it is used as an antiatherogenic medicine, it allows for the proper course of pregnancy. In cooperation with selenium it slows the ageing process of cells, strengthening connective tissue. In the food it is present in whole-grain bread, sprout and grains, vegetable oils (soybean, sunflower), soya beans and sunflower seeds, vegetable fat and hen egg yolks. Also it is used in sports medicine in the form of nutrients and supplements.
Vitamin E deficiency reduces building of red blood cells, results in changes in muscle and disorders of pregnancies.
Dosage: for children, 0.5 mg / 1 kg of weight; for adults 10-30 mg per day.
