Now Foods Vitamin D3 & K2 is a dietary supplement that contains three synergistic vitamins in one capsule: vitamin C, D3 and K2. The correct proportion of ingredients provides a safe and effective action.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a chemical compound, belonging to the group of unsaturated polyhydroxy alcohols. It's necessary for the functioning of living organisms. It must be supplied in the diet because our body cannot synthesise or store this element. It has many health benefits. It helps to reduce a feeling of fatigue. It supports the proper functioning of the immune and nervous system and helps protect cells from oxidative stress.

In addition, ascorbic acid contributes to the healthy synthesis of collagen which is aimed at the normal function of the teeth, gums, skin, bones, cartilages and blood vessels. It also contributes positively to the maintenance of proper energy metabolism and psychological functions. It has an impact on the muscular system by lowering cortisol levels in the body.

Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is an organic chemical compound, steroid-like and fat-soluble. It's found naturally in animals. In the human body, it acts as a prohormone. It works with vitamin K2, vitamin A and calcium. It's called often the sunshine vitamin because it's synthesised in the skin by the conversion of cholesterol under the action of UVB light (the exposure to sun must last at least 15 minutes).

As a result of photosynthesis, lumisterol is formed which consequently undergoes the thermal conversion in animal organisms to cholecalciferol. When sunlight is weak, the vitamin should be included in the diet. It promotes the proper absorption of calcium in the body and its transport to bones. It's beneficial to the skeletal system. This element also supports the body's immune and nervous system.

Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) is found in animal products and fermented plant foods. It affects many biological functions in the body, primarily calcium balance. Its primary role is the modification of proteins so that they can bind calcium. It also contributes to the maintenance of normal bone health, is responsible for the correct calcium distribution to bones. It has also a positive effect on the circulatory system, ensuring proper blood clotting. In addition, it also reduces the risk of calcium deposits in the arteries.

Why the combination of D3 with K2?
The blend of vitamin D3 and K3 is not random. Vitamin D3 is responsible for regulating calcium-phosphate balance in the body. This action is complemented by vitamin K2 which directs these substances to the right areas. Too much vitamin D3 can lead to calcium deposition in soft tissues, e.g. in the kidneys and arteries, but when it's combined with vitamin K2, it will help avoid these problems.

To sum up, Now Foods Vitamin D3&K2 is a dietary supplement designed mainly for athletes and physically active people. Furthermore, the product is intended for everyone due to insufficient sunlight throughout the year to achieve the optimal level of vitamin D3. The product also provides vitamin K2 which is necessary in this combination.
