Creatine pyruvate is a unique combination of a creatine molecule with a pyruvic acid molecule which has a broad spectrum of activity and excellent solubility. Pyruvate belongs to a group of ketoacids which are involved in intracellular respiration. Phosphate groups, which were also obtained during this process, may be stored in a cell as phosphocreatine. Since a creatine pyruvate molecule is more stable than the basic monohydrate form, it is hard not to conclude that this is almost a perfect compound.

It is worth noting that pyruvic acid may be used for the resynthesis of glucose – the basic muscle fuel. Apart from the function of creatine as a source of energy, this tripeptide is a perfect anabolic and anticatabolic agent. It promotes muscle recovery because it acts as a buffer of excess lactic acid, thereby reducing its negative effects.

Supplements with this form of creatine are recommended especially to individuals doing hard strength training because both molecules of the compound take part mainly in anaerobic processes.
