Couch grass (Agropyron repens)

Couch grass (Agropyron regens) – a plant of family poales. Medicinal raw material is couch grass rhizome (Rhizoma Agropyri). It has a number of bioactive components, sugars (fructose, mannitol), inositol, organic acids, essential oil (capillene, carvone), organic acids, mineral salts (including water soluble silica), vitamin C. Its name is taken from the observations of ill dogs, that often dig and eat the rhizome of the plant. It works diuretic, laxative, detoxicating, anti-diabetic, stimulates metabolism. In the sports supplementation it is used to remove the subcutaneous water outside of the organism, that will improve posture and weight reduction at a fairly rapid rate, which is important in professional sports with different weight categories.
