Best Vegan DHA by Doctor’s Best is a dietary supplement containing 200 mg of docosahexaenoic acid DHA obtained from sea algae Schizochytrium sp. The product, due to the lack of heavy metals and toxins, is recommended to pregnant and breastfeeding women and children.

Docosahexaenoic acid DHA – is an organic chemical compound belonging to the group of polyunsaturated fatty acids type omega-3 and essential unsaturated fatty acids. It exhibits many pro-health benefits for the functioning of the human organism. It decreases the level of triglycerides in blood, prevents neurodegenerative diseases and takes care about proper defense mechanisms of the organism.

Characteristics of the supplement
The product is obtained from sea algae Schizochytrium sp., which are characterized by low toxicity and scant content of heavy metals, therefore it is especially recommended to pregnant women, as perfect complementation of DHA in the organism. Fish are rich in the essential acid DHA, however, they are not its recommended source. There is a large risk of deep contamination with mercury, lead, dioxins and PCB - polychlorinated biphenyls, which have harmful influence on the development of the fetus. This is, among others, the reason why it is not recommended to eat a lot of fish during pregnancy, which may lead to fetal malformations and increased risk of bacterial and viral infections.

DHA during pregnancy
DHA is essential for the proper development of the fetus and maintaining pregnancy. DHA deficiency may lead to many complications during labor and developing developmental defects of the central nervous system as well as immune and skeletal system in a child. Taking supplements rich in Omega-3 fatty acids prevents premature labors, conditions proper body mass of a new-born baby and decreases the risk of placental abruption. Thanks to its properties increasing sensitivity of cells to the activity of insulin, it prevents developing gestational diabetes in mothers.

Clinical studies carried out by doctors at the University of Kansas Medical Center proved that daily supplementation with DHA acid in pregnant women decreased the risk of premature labor and postpartum depression by ca. 85%.

Proper concentration of DHA during pregnancy strengthens heart work of a baby, prevents asthma and allergy and improves bone mass.

The influence on the brain
30% of the cerebral cortex is composed of DHA fatty acids, therefore they are so important to maintain proper functions of the brain. Its high concentration has neuroprotective effect, protects neurons from destruction, excessive inflammation and mutations. Moreover, it decreases the risk of cerebral palsy, ADHD and autism in children. Its deficiency in the plasma is manifested by strong problems with concentration, memory and mental fluidity and decreased pace of learning and acquisition of new information.

Healthy eyes
DHA appears in the phospholipids of eye retina in high concentration (20-25%), therefore its regular supplementation prevents the occurrence of eye diseases and improves visual acuity. Excessively low level of DHA acids may lead to retinopathy, which in turn may contribute to deterioration of vision and even to blindness.

Strengthening of immunological functions
Proper functions of the immune system largely depend on high concentration of DHA in the plasma. It helps to produce and utilize lymphocytes T and B as well as NK cells – Natural Killers, which are responsible for natural defense mechanisms of the organism – they prevent bacterial, viral and parasitic infections

Taking DHA shortens the symptoms of colds, i.e. cough, runny nose and fever. It decreases the risk of developing upper respiratory tract infections and alleviates its symptoms, i.e. problems with breathing.

Summing up, Best Vegan DHA by Doctor’s Best is a high-quality supplement containing DHA obtained from sea algae, free from heavy metals and toxins, which are the largest problems of products from the group of Omega-3 present on the market. The product is totally safe, therefore it is especially recommended to pregnant women and children.
