Albion Chelated Manganese 10mg Albion Chelated Manganese 10mg

SWANSON Albion® Chelated Manganese is a dietary supplement composed of manganese – a trace element involved in antioxidant protection of the body and a component of many important enzymes.

The preparation contains manganese in the form of Albion® amino acid chelate. It is characterized by high chemical stability and resistance to gastric juices; it is easily absorbed and assimilated. Its bioavailability manifoldly surpasses other forms available on the market.

Manganese belongs to trace elements. It is necessary for the correct functioning of many enzymatic systems, it affects the functioning of the brain and nervous system and determines bone mineralization. The largest amounts of manganese are deposited in the pancreas, liver, kidneys, and bones. A good source of manganese are legumes, cereal products, rice, green leafy vegetables, and tea. Manganese absorption may be reduced by other elements (iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium), some vitamins (C, B1, and B6), as well as fiber and phytates.

Strengthening of the antioxidant barrier
Manganese plays a large role in protecting the body from oxidative stress and excessive free radicals. It is part of the SOD-2 superoxide dismutase. It is one of the three known forms of the SOD superoxide dismutase enzyme, recognized as the most important, endogenous antioxidant of the body. Scientific research unambiguously indicates the correlation between low SOD and the incidence of heart disease, neoplastic diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, and metabolic syndromes.

Catalase is another important enzyme containing manganese. It is involved in converting hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water. The impairment of this process increases the risk of oxidative stress and oxidative damage.

Strengthening of the connective tissue
Manganese promotes the strengthening of the skeletal system and has a beneficial effect on the health of connective tissue. It is a component of several enzymes that determine the production of articular cartilage. In combination with other minerals, such as calcium, zinc, boron, and copper, manganese increases bone mineral density. Deficiency of this element is very rare, but if it occurs, it causes bone defects and bone loss.

Regulation of blood sugar level
Researchers suggest that manganese may play an important role in stabilizing serum glucose. Currently, there are discussions being held that whether the deficit of this element leads to the development of diabetes, or if it is the development of the disease that entails a significant depletion of the systemic stores of manganese.

There is no doubt that a large amount of manganese is found in the pancreas and that it is involved in the production of insulin. Studies on rodents showed that the addition of manganese to a high-fat diet of the animals resulted in better glucose tolerance and insulin synthesis. In turn, the deficiency of this element caused disordered production of insulin and increased blood sugar levels.

The proper functioning of the brain
Manganese supports the brain and may also contribute to the improvement of cognitive functions. This occurs due to the antioxidant potential of manganese and the protection of the brain against damage caused by free radicals. However, it is crucial to keep the manganese level at a safe level. Both deficiency and excess is dangerous and increases the risk of nervous disorders.

In studies conducted with the participation of children, it was shown that girls whose mothers supplemented manganese during the pregnancy achieved much better results regarding cognitive functions. In turn, the low level of manganese correlated with worse results in IQ tests.

In conclusion, SWANSON Albion® Chelated Manganese is a supplement that is ideally suited for the prevention of manganese deficiencies. This element is essential for the body's protection against oxidative stress, and it may also accelerate wound healing and contribute to the strengthening of the skeletal system.

Manganese

Information

Manganese, of which a natural source is chocolate, grain products with whole grain, nuts, legumes and dried cranberry, is a component of enzymes and their activator. It stimulates the properties and functionality of connective tissue and provides proper functioning of the brain. It affects the function of the pancreas, ensuring proper insulin metabolism and condition of the bone and joints. Magnesium deficiency contributes to serious disorders in synthesis of hyaluronic acid and chondroitin, reduction in insulin sensitivity of tissues, affects bone resorption. Manganese chelates are used in complexometry in chemical analysis and in medicine for the treatment of severe poisoning (antitoxin) by heavy metals, in sports supplementation, manganese impact on the functioning of the locomotor system is used. It is a component of the so-called regenerators of joints and a vitamin-mineralizing and mineralizing supplements.
