Beta-alanine is a compound belonging to non-protein amino acids that is formed in the liver as a result of the degradation of uracil. Unlike alpha-alanine, it is not part of proteins but performs many other important functions. It participates in the synthesis of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which determines the proper metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

Beta-alanine is also necessary for the synthesis of anserine (antioxidant) and carnosine. Carnosine found in the muscles prevents pH lowering by the lactic acid produced during intense exercise. Besides, it protects muscles against the adverse effects of free radicals, improves their contractility and accelerates the removal of harmful metabolites.

Caffeine is an alkaloid belonging to methylxanthines that can be found e.g. in coffee or tea. It is known for its stimulating effect – it reduces fatigue, thereby stimulating for action.

Its impact on the locomotor system is also significant. By increasing the inflow of oxygenated blood to muscle tissue, it improves training performance in athletes. This also considerably increases their concentration on the activity being practiced, and therefore improves coordination.

It has also been observed that the use of caffeine may contribute to the reduction of body fat. This results from the increased intensity of lipolysis processes in adipocytes and the systemic acceleration of the metabolic rate.

Green tea leaf extract is a natural Camellia sinensis leaf extract, standardized to a minimum of 60% epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

EGCG is an ester of gallic acid and epigallocatechin. It belongs to the group of polyphenols with strong antioxidant activity. Recent scientific studies show numerous health-promoting effects of epigallocatechin gallate contained in green tea. It may e.g. lower blood cholesterol, prevent the formation of atherosclerotic plaque or stabilize glucose levels.

EGCG combined with caffeine also shows properties that increase thermogenesis. Increased body temperature results in the acceleration of metabolic changes and more energy to be provided, e.g. to the muscles.

Cocoa bean extract is an excellent source of microelements as well as theobromine and caffeine. They show a stimulating effect, but also support regeneration. Cocoa bean extract is also rich in antioxidants, which, along with epicatechins, have a positive effect on the cardiovascular system.

L-phenylalanine is a protein amino acid transformed in the body into tyrosine, which is a precursor in the catecholamine synthesis pathway. Catecholamines have a stimulatory effect on the body – they intensify the breakdown of liver glycogen, leading to increased blood glucose, which is a valuable source of energy for working muscles. This along with even a small dose of adrenaline may cause bronchodilation, making breathing easier, which, when combined with increased blood pressure, improves the efficiency of oxygen and glucose transport to the muscles.

Guayusa extract is an extract from the leaves of holly growing naturally in South America. These leaves are often used to prepare the Yerba Mate drink, which is nowadays becoming more and more popular. Guayusa is a rich source of numerous stimulants such as theanine, theobromine, and caffeine. They cause increased physical and mental mobilization of the body, thus making the body prepared for a great effort. Theacrine is an alkaloid synthesized from caffeine that has a similar chemical structure. Rauwolfia vomitoria extract is an extract from the root bark of an African plant containing large amounts of yohimbine. Natural sources of acquisition of potassium are: vegetable products (bananas, citrus fruits, melons, mint leaves, green vegetables, potatoes) and animal products (sea fish, meat). Potassium is present in the form of organic compounds: citric acids, and fumarates gluconates and inorganic (chlorides, sulfates, oxides and carbonates).
Potassium deficiency (hypokalemia): excessive tiredness, headaches and irritability, problems with sleeping, muscle cramps, constipation. Cocoa bean


Cocoa seeds come from the cocoa fruit (Theobroma cacao). It is widely used in the food industry – primarily for the production of cocoa powder and cocoa butter, which is used to produce e.g., chocolate. About 50% of the dry mass of cocoa seeds are fats – mainly saturated fatty acids (stearic and palmitic) as well as oleic acid and other acids from the EUFAs. 31% is carbohydrates, with up to 15% being non-digestible fiber.

Cocoa seeds also contain minerals (magnesium, iron, phosphorus, potassium, copper), amino acids (arginine, glutamine, leucine) and two alkaloids (theobromine, caffeine), showing a stimulating effect. In addition, they are extremely rich in polyphenols (catechins, anthocyanins, procyanidins) that have a beneficial effect on the human body. They are credited for the ability to regulate blood pressure, lower cholesterol and stabilize blood sugar.

Cocoa seed extracts are a popular ingredient in health-promoting preparations. They are also commonly used in slimming supplements, sometimes they are also added to pre-workout formulas and mild stimulants.




Theobromine (3,7-Dimethylxanthine) is a purine alkaloid, poorly soluble in water, present in cocoa beans, as well as the leaves of yerba mate, tea, coffee, cola and peanuts. It is a diuretic, lowers blood pressure and improves brain function (dilates the blood vessels of the brain). Also expands the blood vessels throughout the circulatory system, preventing atherosclerotic changes. Sometimes it is used in slimming diet. Combined with caffeine and polyphenols becomes thermogenic. In the sports supplementation formulations containing theobromine are used diuretics and fat burners. It is a component of thermogenics, pre-workout creatine stacks, as well as nitrogen boosters.



Phenylalanine (essential amino acid) is provided from the outside with food or synthetic products. Its source are the high-protein foods and supplements, concentrates: protein, amino acid and nutritional supplements for athletes. Precursor of tyrosine, thyroid hormones and neurotransmitters (adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine), phenylethylamines (neuromodulator) and melanin pigments of hair and skin. Essential for the proper functioning of the nervous system. It has analgesic, antidepressant, and is used as an additive to supplements with thermogenic and stimulating action. It is a component of aspartame.
Excess phenylalanine consumed by people with neurological problems, may reduce the availability of other essential amino acid tryptophan of nervous system and consequently lead to a reduction in serotonin and exacerbate the depression.



Theacrine is a purine alkaloid which occurs naturally in the fruits of cupuaçu (Theobroma grandiflorum) and the leaves of Camellia assamica. It is structurally similar to caffeine but it has also additional ketone and methyl groups. It also energises, enhances focus and reduces drowsiness and fatigue. In contrary to caffeine, it has more lasting effects and rather does not affect blood pressure. Furthermore, it has been observed that the body develops tolerance to theacrine more slowly and that is why there is no need to increase its dosage to obtain the desired results. 

Like caffeine, theacrine can bind to adenosine receptors without activating them. Nonetheless, its effects depend on the dosage. Its high doses block adenosine receptors whereas low doses have the opposite effects – they boost adenosine levels in the hippocampus and that is probably why they may reduce negative effects of excessive caffeine intake. In addition, theacrine modulates dopamine receptors. Their activation leads to higher motivation and enhanced cognitive skills. It is also believed to have analgesic and antioxidant effects.

In supplementation, theacrine is treated as a stimulant. It is used to reduce drowsiness and fatigue and boost mental performance. It is often combined with caffeine to enhance and prolong its effects and prevent the harmful consequences of excess caffeine.

Theacrine is most frequently found in pre-workout supplements and fat burners based on stimulants. Single-ingredient preparations with pure theacrine are also available on the market.  

Dosage: No official guidelines.

The most common daily dosage is from 50 to 300 mg. Doses below 50 mg will have a relaxing effect and those around 300 mg a stimulating effect.
