Apollo’s Hegemony PQQ is a dietary supplement containing 20 mg of pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt – a substance similar to a vitamin classified to the group of cofactors of redox reactions with strong antioxidant effect.

PQQ, also known as methoxatin, works on the mitochondrial level, exhibiting very strong antioxidant effect. It is reflected in very positive influence on the nervous system, cognitive functions and slowing down bio- and neurodegenerative processes. Limiting harmful activity of free radicals also decreases the risk of developing many civilization diseases, such as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s diseases. Apart from this, the substance positively influences the functioning of the cardiovascular system.

It indistinguishably resembles vitamin in its structure, however, it does not fulfill all key requirements necessary to classify it to this category. PQQ therefore belongs to the group of semi-vitamins. It plays the role of a cofactor – ensures proper enzymatic activity. As a bioactive enzyme, it exhibits unusual durability – it is able to perform thousands of antioxidant activities without being subjected to molecular breakdown process.

Research confirms that PQQ is an even a few thousand times more effective factor of redox processes (reducing oxidation) than popularly applied ascorbic acid (vitamin C). It also exhibits much more pro-health properties than traditionally used antioxidants.

Pyrroloquinoline quinone is not synthesized by the human organism, which means that it needs to be provided exogenously. PQQ naturally occurs in kiwi fruit, green tea or parsley, however, often in the amounts insufficient to ensure its proper supply. To achieve a therapeutic effect, it is necessary to provide the dose of min. 20 mg of a substance, which is enabled by the presented supplement in an easy way.

Oxidative stress is the state of the lack of balance between the activity of reactive oxygen forms and biological activity of quick detoxification or repair of damages. The process of oxidation leads to the creation of free radicals, the activity of which promotes disorders in the functioning of various organism’s systems and may lead to serious ailments. The main structures especially exposed to the activity of free radicals are mitochondria – energy centers of cells.

PQQ is attributed antioxidant properties and the ability to inhibit the production of free radicals in the organism. It is reflected in the improvement of the functioning of mitochondria, the nervous and cardiovascular systems.

Positive influence on mitochondria: mitochondria are nothing else but microscopic energy centers located in every cell of the human organism. They are responsible among others for cellular respiration and ATP production (the basic energy carrier in the body), which entails their direct influence on the functioning of the organism when it comes to mitochondria and cognitive functions of the brain. Apart from this, the processes of organism’s aging are dependent on the proper activity of mitochondria.

Disorders of the work of mitochondria, caused by e.g. oxidative stress and the effect of free radicals may lead to disturbing cognitive functions of the brain, acceleration of bio- and neurodegenerative processes, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases and cancers. Therefore, it is so important to provide mitochondria with proper nutritious substances, stimulating their growth and protecting them against the activity of oxidants.

PQQ is such a substance, which supports mitochondria on many levels. First of all, it stimulates the activity of CREB protein, which gives the organism the signal to produce new cellular organelles, stimulating at the same time the process of mitochondrial biogenesis. Is also stimulates the molecules PGC-1 alpha and DJ-1, which are responsible for their proper development and functioning. Higher amount of properly functioning mitochondria in cells means better functioning of the whole organism and slowing down aging processes.

Apart from this, PQQ positively influences regeneration of damaged mitochondria on the level of DNA structures and stimulates energy production, which results in higher efficiency of the organism, better self-evaluation, growth of vitality and improvement of cognitive functions of the brain. Moreover, PQQ by blocking gene expansion of induced nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) protects the structure of mitochondria against the harmful effect of reactive nitrogen forms (RNS).

Next to regeneration and stimulation to produce new mitochondria, their protection against the harmful activity against free radicals is equally important. PQQ, as one of the strongest antioxidants, effectively eliminates superoxide and hydroxyl radicals from the organism, thanks to which it limits the risk of their destructive influence on mitochondria. It is worth highlighting that pyrroloquinoline quinone is one of the most effective substances in this respect.

The key to longevity: using PQQ has a considerable influence on counteracting aging processes. According biologists, the higher amount of mitochondria in cells, the better general state of health of the organism and the slower aging processes. It also determines the length of life. Taking care about the appropriateness of the process of mitochondrial biogenesis, which is stimulated by PQQ is therefore of the interest of all people who would like to live long.

Neuroprotective effect of PQQ consists in the protection of nerve structures against the harmful effect of oxidants and oxidative stress – the main factors responsible for the range of neurodegenerative processes and numerous diseases related to the nervous system. As a highly energy-consuming system, the efficiency of its functioning also depends on the proper work of mitochondria – which PQQ perfectly takes care of.

First of all, PQQ has influence on reducing inflammations and neutralizing harmful RNS (reactive nitrogen species), which positively influences the protection of neurons against their unfavorable effect. Moreover, the substance positively affects the pace of the transmission of nerve impulses by neurons, which is reflected in the improvement of the pace of thinking processes. It happens thanks to the ability of PQQ to increase the activity of the nerve growth factor (NGF) and Schwann cells.

In the course of research it was proven that PQQ had positive influence on reversing the drop in cognitive functions caused by chronic oxidative stress, which was reflected in better results in memory tests.

PQQ also protects the nervous system against harmful activity of toxins, such as mercury or oxidopamine and limits the storage of alpha-synuclein and beta-amyloid in the organism – toxic proteins inhibiting and blocking the rotation of substances between blood and cells. These are the factors promoting the appearance of diseases related to neurodegenerative processes – Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

Pyrroloquinoline quinone also takes part in stabilizing and regulating the activity of NMDA receptor (N-methyl-D-aspartic), the excess of which is responsible for the occurrence of disorders in the functioning of the nervous system. Thanks to this, PQQ positively influences the functioning of the neurotransmitters, improving cognitive abilities of the brain. It is directly reflected in the improvement of concentration, the pace of thinking processes, memorization and fact association.

This substance also secures the organism from ischemia–reperfusion damages created as a result of stroke and it considerably decreases damages in the nervous system after its occurrence.

The influence on the cardiovascular system consists in securing heart cells from oxidative stress and, thanks to the positive influence on energy processes taking place in mitochondria, it limits cellular damages caused by lipid peroxidation. As one of the most energy-consuming systems in the human organism, its efficiency is also strictly related to the functioning of mitochondria. All kinds of disorders are reflected in accelerated aging processes of heart cells, which are slowed down and limited by PQQ.

Similarly as in case of stroke, PQQ also decreases the scale of damages caused in the organism by heart attack. Doctors are in agreement as for the fact that pyrroloquinoline quinone is in this respect more effective than used so far on a large scale beta metoprolol blocker.

Summing up, PQQ is a groundbreaking supplement with a wide pro-health spectrum. It ensures protection of the most important structures of the organism against the harmful effect of oxidative stress. By supporting mitochondria, it automatically positively influences the functioning of the nervous system, cardiovascular system and effectively inhibits aging processes of the organism. Due to the above properties, PQQ is the fundamental supplement which aims at ensuring proper functioning of the organism and its longevity.

Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ)

Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ), otherwise known as methoxanthin, it is substance that was discovered quite recently. Admittedly, PQQ was discovered in 1979. However, it was not until 2003 that its properties were shown to be similar to those of B vitamins (for this reason, it is sometimes called PQQ vitamin).

Nonetheless, PQQ is not a vitamin but a vitamin-like substance because it does not meet all the criteria for this group. PQQ functions as a cofactor, thereby regulating enzyme activity.

It is a cofactor of many redox reactions with great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential.  It has been shown to be more effective than the commonly used vitamin C.

Furthermore, PQQ stimulates the biogenesis of mitochondria (increases the body’s efficiency, improves energy production), helps maintain normal protein deglycase DJ-1 levels (protects against oxidative stress), is involved in NGF synthesis (promotes the production of new neurons and regeneration of myelin sheaths).

All these properties may make PQQ supplementation a perfect way to improve general quality of life (improved sleep efficiency, increased energy levels, reduced stress and fatigue and a beneficial impact on mood).

Salt (sodium chloride, or table salt), natural source of electrolytes (chlorine and potassium), regulating water and electrolyte and acid-base balance of the body, affecting the nervous system and blood pressure. Sodium is an essential element for the proper growth. The proper dose of salt prevents overheating of the body and solar stroke. It provides the proper functioning of muscles and nerves the body. Chlorine in combination with sodium, is involved in the digestive process and maintains acid-base balance in the body, as antitoxin removes toxic products of metabolism in the liver. Salt is a flavour component and preservative of many foods, nutritional supplements and mixtures of electrolytes, available at

Dosage: no specific standards of consumption, used so as to provide sufficient amount of electrolytes to the body (sodium and chloride).
