Jarrow Formulas Magnesium Optimizer is a unique composition of magnesium and components that support its metabolism. Each tablet provides 50 mg of magnesium, while vitamin B6, potassium and taurine improve and complement its action.

Special attention should be drawn to the forms of components contained in the product. Magnesium is used in its best absorbable malate form, and vitamin B6 – in a unique form of pyridoxal 5’-phosphate which is characterised by the highest bioavailability. The product is complemented by the addition of taurine and potassium citrate.

The product is recommended within the prevention of magnesium deficiencies. It is estimated that everybody can observe too low levels of this element. This results from bad nutritional habits, excessive consumption of tea, coffee and soft drinks, for example Cola. Stress and, in case of athletes, also intensive physical effort, which accelerates the loss of microelements with sweat, increase the demand for magnesium.

Magnesium is one of the most popular elements and a cofactor for hundreds of enzymes. It is involved in the most important enzymatic reaction in the body system. It participates in energy production, nerve impulses transmission, is responsible for the proper contractility of muscle tissue, regulates blood pressure and supports DNA structure.

Vitamin B6 affects more biochemical processes in the body system than any other vitamin. It is a coenzyme for hundreds of enzymes, participates in the transformations of amino acids, proteins and fats as well as regulates glycogenolysis and glycogenesis. It affects the functioning of nervous and hormonal systems. As a modulator of homocysteine level, it determines the proper functioning and the condition of the cardiovascular system.

Potassium is contained in the intracellular fluid and is responsible for the osmotic and water/electrolyte balance of cells. It activates many enzymes and cooperates with magnesium for the proper functioning of muscle and nervous tissues.

Taurine is a non-protein amino acid which intensifies the action of magnesium and potassium. It is a perfect magnesium transport, which is why it improves its availability. Moreover, taurine is responsible for osmoregulation, stabilizes cell membranes and increases muscle contractility.

Healthy musculoskeletal system
Magnesium is necessary for strong bones and teeth. It determines their development and proper mineralization. Magnesium activates enzymes from the phosphatases group, which accelerate the growth and transformation of the skeleton. Moreover, magnesium promotes calcium metabolism in bones and intensifies the vitamin D3 action, which is responsible for the proper calcium absorption. Thanks to that teeth are strong, and bones – hard, resistant to fractures and properly elastic.

Magnesium is necessary for the maintenance of the proper functioning of the muscle tissue. It is responsible for the proper muscle tension and the processes of their contraction. Its action in this aspect is complemented by potassium, which additionally participates in the process of glucose conversion into glycogen and stimulates its accumulation in muscles.

The symptoms of magnesium and potassium deficiencies are weakened muscles, easy fatigability, efficiency deterioration, muscle twitching and painful cramps (especially of the calf muscles).

The proper functioning of the nervous system
Both magnesium and vitamin B6 participate in numerous energy processes, so raising their levels can reduce fatigue and weakness. Both substances can be effective in the fight against insomnia, as they promote falling asleep, and magnesium shows also slight sedative properties.

Magnesium cooperates with potassium to provide the proper nerve impulses transmission, which results in higher mental capacity. Vitamin B6 supports also cognitive functions; its deficiency accelerates ageing of neurons and, as a result, it leads to memory and concentration problems. Moreover, it improves glucose use, which is the main fuel for the brain.

The combination of magnesium and vitamin B6 brings many benefits for mental well-being. Magnesium is commonly recommended to relieve anxiety and tension in the periods of chronic stress. In turn, vitamin B6 affects the synthesis of the most important neurotransmitters, serotonin and dopamine.

Support for the cardiovascular system
Both magnesium and vitamin B6 play important roles in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Magnesium has anti-aggregating properties and it reduces the risk of clots that lead to strokes. Moreover, it has a positive influence on the condition of smooth muscles of the blood vessels. Thanks to magnesium, they work and relax properly, which in turn increases the blood flow and reduces the pressure on arteries.

Its action is complemented by vitamin B6. Its role consists mainly in the participation in methylation and the removal of homocysteine excess from the body system. Homocysteine is a protein dangerous for the body system which destroys blood vessels and plays a main role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases.

Benefits for the digestive system
Magnesium is essential for the proper digestion; its presence is necessary for the synthesis of enzymes and digestive juices. Magnesium has also influence on the process of nutrient transfer into bloodstream, from where they are then distributed over the whole body system.

Hormonal balance
The deficiencies of vitamin B6 and magnesium are particularly dangerous for the female hormonal system. Their common symptoms are burdensome ailments referred to as premenstrual syndrome (deterioration of complexion condition, mood swings, water retention in the body system and breast tenderness). Demand for magnesium and vitamin B6 increases during the use of oral hormonal contraception.

Magnesium is also involved in the synthesis of different hormones, such as adrenaline, which is produced by the adrenal cortex, calcitonin and prohormone, which are responsible for calcium management of the body system. It affects also the secretion of insulin.

Immunity improvement
Synergy of action of the product components results in the improvement in the functioning of the immune system. Vitamin B6 activates the most important immune cells, lymphocytes B and T, while magnesium accelerates their maturation. Vitamin B6 participates also in the production of antibodies and is responsible for the proper conversion of haem to hemoglobine in the production of red blood cells. Magnesium is a regulator of phagocytosis, when the infected or mutated cells are swallowed by the specialised cells of the immune system.

To sum it all up, Magnesium Optimizer is a dietary supplement which is the best source of the perfectly absorbable magnesium. Thanks to the addition of vitamin B6, potassium and taurine, the all magnesium functions are enhanced and the product has greater effectiveness. The supplementation is especially recommended for people exposed to stress, complaining about memory and concentration problems as well as for suffering from burdensome cramps and muscle weakness.
