Aliness Copper Trio is a dietary supplement consisting of copper – a trace element involved in a great number of metabolic pathways, essential for the proper functioning of the body.

As to increase the bioavailability and assimilability, three different forms of copper – citrate, gluconate, and sulphate – were placed in the preparation. Small and easy to swallow tablets are suitable for vegans; they do not contain any controversial fillers, contain no lactose, soy or gluten.

Copper is a trace element, extremely important for the proper functioning of the system. However, when in excess, it is potentially toxic. It can be naturally found in commonly known food products. Good sources of copper are offal, seafood, dried fruits, seeds, nuts, and soy products. Copper activates many enzymes, positively affects the connective tissue, supports the functioning of the circulatory system, and is involved in maintaining the normal function of the nervous system.

Protection against free radicals
Copper plays a vital role in removing free radicals from the body and eliminating oxidative stress. It is part of SOD-1 (zinc-copper superoxide dismutase), an enzyme that is an important element of the body’s intracellular antioxidant system.

An efficient scavenger of free radicals is also ceruloplasmin, which binds over 95% of copper ions. Its task is to remove superoxide anion radicals from the body and to protect cellular membrane components against oxidation.

The health of connective tissue
One of the enzymes that bind copper ions is lysyl oxidase. It plays a key role in the process of oxidative deamination of lysine during the formation of cross-links in elastin and collagen. As a result, copper strengthens the skeleton and positively affects the condition of hair, skin, and nails.

Studies showed that the use of copper supplements by women during menopause slowed down the loss of bone mineral density characteristic for this period. Increasing the supply of this element brings good effects also in the elderly – it slows down the loss of bone mass and has a beneficial effect on osteogenic processes.

Strengthening the cardiovascular system
Copper is important for the integrity of blood vessels, while its deficiency is a serious risk factor for heart and cardiovascular diseases. It has been observed that without an adequate amount of this element in the body, blood vessels become more susceptible to damage and more frequently develop atherosclerotic lesions. The risk of aortic aneurysms also increases.

In addition, in rodent studies, copper has been shown to have a beneficial effect on the lipid profile – it promotes the reduction of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and slightly increases the concentration of the desired HDL fraction.

Effects on the nervous system
Copper is important for the activity of enzymes involved in maintaining normal brain functions. One of them is dopamine β-hydroxylase, involved in the formation of catecholamines. Impairment of their production leads to disorders of the nervous system and may cause worsening of mood and weakening of cognitive functions.

Copper and zinc and iron
In the context of copper, two other elements are worth mentioning. The first of these is zinc. When administered in large quantities, it promotes the increase of the level of low-molecular proteins called metallothioneins. They bind copper and prevent its absorption, which may lead to a dangerous deficit. For this reason, people who are taking preparations with zinc are also recommended to supplement with copper.

Another element that should be mentioned when discussing the functions of copper is iron. Copper is essential for normal iron metabolism and hemoglobin production. Its deficiency may be the cause of anemia refractory to iron treatment.

In summary, Aliness Copper Trio is a preparation recommended for people who are deficient in copper. Thanks to the content of up to three forms of this element, the supplement quickly and effectively compensates for shortages. Ideally suited for periods of supplementation with large doses of zinc.
