Calm Child™ from Planetary Herbals is a dietary supplement, which is addressed to children, who in today’s world are prone to the excess of stimuli and the negative influence of stress. The nervous system of the youngest is a very sensitive structure, vulnerable to these harmful factors. As a result of this, they experience anxiety, restless sleep, problems with concentration and hyperactivity, resulting from subconscious frustration.

Chamomile Flower Extract this plant has been used by people for centuries. Apigenin contained in it demonstrates calming effect, thanks to which it support proper, deep sleep. The mechanism of apigenin is derived from its similarity to benzodiazepines. By binding with receptors, to which this group of drugs adheres, it demonstrates the effect stimulating the GABA system. It is responsible for calming down the organism. Melissa extract contained in the supplement reinforces this effect. Serotonin and melatonin levels are also positively regulated. These are neurotransmitters, which positively influence mood and sleep.

Numerousness of the ingredients contained in the extract from chamomile flower, among which there are terpenoids and flavonoids demonstrate slight anti-anxiety effect, thanks to which it allows to quieten the organism and supports proper sleep in children.

Jujube Seed Extract – scientifically confirmed anxiolytic and sedative effect results from the presence of jujubosides and flavonoids, which in their activity resemble barbiturates. Thanks to this, it is easier to calm down the organism and properly fall asleep.

Hawthorn Berry Extract – a sedative influence of hawthorn on the nervous system results from its positive influence on blood circulation. Proper nourishment of the brain supports the fight with stress and elimination of redundant products of metabolism. Thanks to this, its more efficient work is possible.

By influencing the reduction of blood pressure, it reduces excessive tension of the organism, which is caused, among others by omnipresent stress factors.

Catnip Aerial Parts Extract – isomers of nepetalactone contained in this extract demonstrate slightly calming effect, which allow to tone nerves. Additionally, they allow to fall asleep, but do not cause mind-numbing effect, which is the side-effect of many substances supporting sleep. There are some data confirming the synergistic activity of catnip and chamomile.

Lemon Balm Aerial Parts Extract – the positive influence of lemon balm on falling asleep has been known in folk medicine for ages. Rosmarinic acid, ethylated esters of caffeic acid and salvianolic acid contained in this extract have stimulating effect on GABAergic system. It allows to reduce hyperactivity and facilitates concentration. The influence on the production of serotonin allows to calm down the organism and protect it from the negative consequences of anxiety.

The improvement of cognitive functions, which is obtained in long application of lemon balm is caused by activating acetylcholine receptor.

Long Pepper Fruit Extract -  this plant comes from Ayurvedic medicine. It contains piperine, which facilitates falling asleep. Additionally, it reduces the activity of monoaminoxidase, which negatively influences the level of serotonin – the “happiness hormone”.

Amla Fruit Extract – the multitude of substances with antioxidant effect and positive influence on the work of superoxide dismutase allow to effectively fight with the negative influence of free radicals on the nervous system. Large amount of stress and the excess of stimuli cause their excessive production, due to which they damage, among others, cells of the nervous system. It disturbs its proper development and efficient work.

Licorice Root Extract – this extract demonstrates adaptogenic effect, which consists in reducing the production of cortisol by the adrenal cortex. It allows to take care of the proper condition of this gland. By inducing its proper regeneration, it ensures appropriate production of hormones, thanks to which the influence of stress on health is reduced. Flavonoids contained in this extract and antioxidants reduce negative influence of free radicals on the structure of the nervous system.

Magnesium Taurinate – the form of magnesium composed in such a way enables its proper transport through cell membranes, thanks to which it maximizes its calming effect on the nervous system. Magnesium supports proper transmission of nerve impulses in the body, thanks to which it influences the reduction of anxiety and stress, that hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis is subjected to. Lower level of adrenaline inhibits its stimulating effect on the organism, which often appears in stressful situations.

Additionally, by binding with GABA receptors, it allows to achieve proper sleep and relative calm. The improvement of cognitive functions during the application of the element results from the improvement of neuroplasticity of the brain.

Calcium Carbonate – appropriate level of this mineral supports maintaining proper efficiency of the nervous system. This, in turn, allows to improve cognitive functions. By positively affecting the production of melatonin, it allows to achieve proper and deep sleep. Calcium carbonate supports maintaining proper duration of REM phase of sleep, thanks to which it ensures adequate regeneration of the nervous system.

Gotu Kola Aerial Parts Extract – the positive influence of this plant on the work of the brain has been the subject of many studies in the past years. They demonstrate that the supplementation with this element supports proper cerebral circulation. Thanks to this, unneeded metabolic products are eliminated from the brain and proper oxygen supply ensures its more efficient work. Additionally, by stimulating the production of serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline, it enables proper memory forming and reduction of excessive aggression.

To sum up, Calm Child™ from PlanetaryHerbals is a dietary supplement, which thanks to the multitude of ingredients with a calming effect, facilitating sleep and cognition, enables effective reduction of stress level in children. Thanks to this product, children’s sensitive nervous system is protected from excessive environmental stimulation.

Calories are the conventional name of the unit expressing the energy value of food, the demand and energy expenditure in human body, which in fact is 1 kilocalorie (1 kcal). 1 kilocalorie is the amount of thermal energy required to heat 1 g of water and 1 degree Celsius. The SI unit of thermal energy is 1 joule (1J), equal to approximately 4,185 kcal.
The energy value is determined by the chemical composition of the food product, by means of the so-called. physiological equivalents. Most often Atwater equivalent is used: ratio for protein 4 kcal / g, for carbohydrates 4kcal / g, and for fat - 9kcal / g.
The energy value carried out with the so-called. "Caloric bomb" is equivalent to the physical energy, amounting to 4.1 kcal per 1 g carbohydrate to 5.65 kcal per 1 g protein, 9.45 kcal per 1 g of fat.
Nutritional value, determines the suitability of a food product for realizing life functions of human, the higher it is - the higher bioavailability and lower quantity for consumption for obtaining the effects.

Calcium carbonate

Calcium carbonate – a salt of carbonic acid and calcium, used in dietary supplements as one of the calcium forms, because of its high bioavailability. It is an alkaline salt, which is why it is used for neutralisation of the environment in the stomach.

Calcium is a macroelement necessary for the proper functioning of the body system. It is a building material of teeth and bones as well as it determines their mechanical strength. The proper supply of calcium prevents osteoporosis in elderly people and allows for the proper development of skeletal system in children. It is an activator of many enzymes, is involved in the inflammatory processes and regulates secretion of particular hormones. It is also essential for muscle contraction and determines blood coagulation. Moreover, calcium ions allow for transmission of nerve impulses by synapses, so that they regulate the proper neural transmission.

The demand for calcium increases with training intensity, which is why it is recommended for athletes to increase calcium supply. Calcium deficiency can be caused by high-protein diet.

Essential oils

Essential oils occur in all plants, in various amounts. These are complicated compounds not fully identified, each containing hundreds of components in microscopic amounts. They are found in all parts of the plant: the root, flowers, leaves, stems and fruits. On the amount, composition and structure depend not only on the aromatic, but also therapeutic properties. They work mainly by inhalation , getting into the bloodstream and externally (through the skin while rubbing into the body, bath or compress). They show the highest activity in herbal infusions. Their action is enhanced by stabilizing in the laboratory. They should be used only under medical supervision, as they can cause allergies. They are used to treat patients with headaches, insomnia, lack of concentration, flu, catarrh, cold. The use of essential oils in herbal spices stimulates the digestive system (stimulates appetite and increases the secretion of gastric juices), allowing for better absorption of food. Also used in the production of cosmetics. Available at:
