  • Supports the functioning of the movement apparatus
  • Takes part in collagen synthesis
  • Participates in building connective tissue
  • Supports the structure of bones, cartilage and tendons
  • Initiates the process of structural protein synthesis
  • Supports building musculature
  • Improves the state of hair and skin

Swanson L-Proline is a supplement containing 500 mg of proline in one capsule. This α-amino acid is one of the main components of collagen, an important protein of connective tissue and recently also appreciated for its anabolic properties. Thanks to these properties proline may play an important role of a substance supporting the functioning of joints and the whole movement system as well as developing muscle tissue.

With age, collagen natural biosynthesis drops. This process begins as early as at the age of 25. As the time passes, elastin and collagen fibers weaken and the process of collagen degeneration exceeds the processes of its creation. At elderly age (60-70 years), collagen synthesis is stopped almost completely. It is recommended to join proline supplementation with vitamin C, which taking part in proline hydroxylation stimulates collagen production.

L-proline belongs to the group of α-amino acids and covers as much as 30% of the whole pool of amino acids which build new and regenerate damaged collagen proteins. Collagen in turn constitutes around 1/3 of proteins creating our organism. Proline is also one of the main components engaged in many processes of production and maintaining proper structure of connective tissue (bones, cartilage, tendons, skin, cornea).

Proline is an important amino acid supporting proper functions of the whole movement apparatus, which plays an important role among all people practicing intensive physical effort and also dealing with injuries or rehabilitation process. People, among whom the most efficient renewal of tissue structures is required (connective tissue damages), should consider supplementing this amino acid. It would accelerate after-training regeneration of muscles, joints and tendons and it would contribute to more intensive muscle mass and strength growth.

The increasing number of studies prove that L-proline is an important element regulating many complex biochemical and physiological processes taking part in each cell. The most important proline property may by its ability to regulate the activity of mTOR kinase. This action is undoubtedly useful when it comes to strength and bodybuilding sports. The activity of mTOR kinase is reflected in the intensification of the processes of translation and transcription, which results in the growth of intracellular protein synthesis. The proper amount of proline may support the influence of training stimuli on the muscle mass and strength growth.

L-proline may influence the activity of certain enzymes (i.a. catalase, peroxidase or polyphenol oxidase) and thanks to this it plays a protective role for many cells. These enzymes take part in the neutralization of free oxygen radicals and protect cells from their negative impact.

The experiments on laboratory animals proved that L-proline has an influence on the activity of the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), which plays a crucial role in organ regeneration and the process of wound healing.

The activity of this amino acid also supports beautiful and young skin appearance. L-proline, being a collagen component, partially contributes to preventing and reversing skin ageing. Contained in the cosmetics to apply on skin, it optically reduces small wrinkles and lines and increases the ability of skin to bind water. Moreover, it promotes the growth of new and healthy hair and takes part in rebuilding hair roots.

Summing up, Swanson L-Proline is a dietary supplement which may have an important influence on ensuring proper functioning of movement apparatus, which is especially vital for physically active people and sportsmen, who often deal with joints, cartilage and muscle overstrain. Proline supplementation may turn out to be helpful among all people in the period of injury and during rehabilitation, supporting quick recovery.

The product also constitutes a perfect additive for every sportsman, which will help to faster and more effectively achieve permanent effects in the form of lean muscle mass and for women to gain beautiful and healthy skin and hair.

Proline - endogenous amino acid, one of the 22 amino acids building proteins. As a result of the conversion (carried out with the participation of vitamin C) in the form of hydroxy-proline, it is the ingredient of collagen ( basic protein of connective tissue). Influences positively the locomotor system especially in people exposed to an overload (e.g. strength and endurance sports athletes) and during rehabilitation after injury or surgery of locomotor system organs. It is naturally occurring in food, or is synthesized in the body from glutamate. In the dietary supplementation it is a component of high-protein nutrients, amino acid products (in the form of proline or hydroxy-proline), and supporting the functioning of the locomotor system that contains collagen available at
