Hepatica Pure Veg DHA is a dietary supplement, in the composition of which there is DHA acid obtained from sea microalgae Schizochytrium Sp. The supplement is appropriate for vegans and vegetarians. The material used for the production is free from contaminations, toxins and heavy metals, therefore it may be used without any worries by pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.

DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is a chemical compound from the group of polyunsaturated fatty acids omega-3. At the same time, it belongs to the family of the so-called essential fatty acids (EFAs), which highlights its role in the organism. DHA demonstrates many pro-health properties and helps to maintain the organism in the state of homeostasis. The amounts of DHA naturally synthesized in the organism are too low in order to cover the needs of the organism, therefore proper supply of DHA should be secured by external delivery.

The highest quality of the material

A typical source of DHA is fish oil and the majority of supplements are based on this oil. However, it has a few important disadvantages. First of all, it is not suitable for vegans or vegetarians. The quality of the material is also doubtful - it is commonly known that fish live in extremely polluted water reservoirs, easily assimilate toxins and cumulate heavy metals. Fish oil is often contaminated with mercury, lead, PCB and dioxins, which defeat its pro-health properties, resulting from the presence of omega-3 acids.

The presented supplement contains vegetarian DHA from sea algae Schizochytrium sp. Algae are very simple microorganisms, which do not absorb toxins or heavy metals. Oil obtained from algae constitutes a perfect alternative to fish oil. It is rich in omega-3 (especially DHA) and at the same time it is free from any pollution.

DHA for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers

Specialists highlight that DHA, similarly to folic acid, is essential for the proper course of pregnancy and the development of the fetus. Both mother and her unborn child benefit from supplementation. DHA may decrease the risk of miscarriage and premature birth. It was proven in the studies that women who took preparations with DHA during pregnancy less frequently experienced pre- and post-birth complication. They also did not have postpartum depression.

DHA acid supports the formation of the nervous, immune and skeletal system in the developing fetus. If the mother’s organism does not obtain a proper amount of DHA, the consequences may be visible both in the prenatal period and in the later stage of the child’s development. Numerous studies proved that children, whose mothers did not take omega-3 fatty acids during pregnancy often had problems with speaking, had worse results in school and scored worse in intelligence tests. ADHD, word dyslexia and various emotional disorders were also more frequently diagnosed.

DHA for the improvement of brain functioning

A lot of DHA acid is stored in cerebral cortex. It is the component of membrane phospholipids, provides membranes with proper mobility and plasticity. It also takes part in the development of neuronal edging and the creation of dendritic spines, on which brain neuroplasticity is dependent. DHA deficiency inhibits maintaining proper brain functions, which may entail memory problems, concentration disorders, slowing down thinking processes or weaker ability to acquire knowledge.

DHA also demonstrates neuroprotective effect. It protects neurons from damages, decreases the size of inflammations and oxidative stress in the central nervous system. Moreover it prevents accumulation of amyloid plaques in the brain, which are a characteristic symptoms of developing Alzheimer’s disease.

DHA to strengthen immunity

Properly high supply of DHA is important to maintain proper immune functions. DHA stimulates the production and activity of lymphocytes B, T and NK cells, which are responsible for defense mechanisms of the organism.

DHA deficiency is especially dangerous for pregnant women, as it may inhibit the formation of the immune system in the developing fetus. Immaturity of the immune system is correlated with the appearance of anemia or asthma. It was proven in the studies that by increasing the supply of DHA in the period of pregnancy, the risk of allergy or asthma in a child may be reduced by more than 70%.

DHA for healthy eyes

Phospholipids of eye retina is another place of DHA acid accumulation. This compound supports proper vision and protects the eyesight. It limits the accumulation of lipofuscin and toxins responsible for vision deterioration in eye retina. It may also decrease the risk of macular degradation.

To sum up, Hepatica Pure Veg DHA is an ideal way to complement diet with DHA acid. The supplement contains a high-quality acid DHA from a reliable source. It is safe for pregnant women and children. It may be also used by vegetarians and vegans.
