Sanprobi Active & Sport is a modern dietary supplement containing 5 carefully selected probiotic strains (Lactococcus lactis W58, Lactobacillus acidophilus W22, Bifidobacterium bifidum W23, Lactobacillus brevis W63, Bifidobacterium lactis W51), which has been created for physically active people.

The preparation alleviates the symptoms of the digestive system, increases organism’s immunity, protects from oxidative stress and has anti-inflammatory effect.

Probiotics are living microbes, which (when applied in appropriate amounts) have positive influence on the organism. The word “probiotic” is derived from Greek “pro bios”, which means “for life”.

In order for a given strain to be acknowledged as probiotic, it needs to fulfill certain required criteria, i.a. it needs to come from natural healthy microflora of human large intestine, it has to belong to the group of obligatory or facultative anaerobes, be characterized by resistance to acidic activity of pH of gastric juice, bile salts or digestive enzymes, be genetically stable, it cannot exhibit pathogenic properties and its effect should be scientifically documented.

The meaning of probiotics in sport
Physically active people are often prone to disorders in the proper functioning of the digestive system, which appear as, among others, heartburn, burping, bloating, nausea and vomiting, stomachache or even bleeding in the digestive tract. These symptoms are often intensified along with the increase of effort intensity and may not only constitute discomfort during physical activity, but also weaken efficiency and inhibit training, which consequently may be reflected in worse sports results.

Probiotics not only decrease the intensity of the symptoms in the digestive system. They help to seal intestinal barrier (the damage of which accompanies physical effort), thanks to which they counteract permeation of toxins, antigens and microbes to the inside of the organism.

It has also been proven that properly selected probiotic strains help physically active people to reduce inflammations, increase immunity to infections (especially of upper respiratory tract) and boost antioxidant potential of the organism).

In the composition of the preparation there are:

Lactococcus lactis is characterized by high stability and after introducing in to the human digestive tract, it quickly starts to colonize intestinal walls. It creates unfavorable environment for pathogens and counteracts the disorders of the digestive system.

Lactobacillus acidophilus stimulates immunity, helps to digest lactose, supports the processes of blood coagulation and improves bone structure. It has the ability to produce antibacterial substances, such as: acidolin, acidophillin and lactacin. It has also been proven that it takes part in fighting bacteria H. pylori, which is responsible for gastric and duodenum ulcers.

Bifidobacterium bifidum helps to restore proper intestinal microflora, fights rotaviral diarrhea and, similarly to L. acidophilus demonstrates antiulcer properties.

Lactobacillus brevis is highly stable and resistant to the effect of digestive enzymes, gastric juices and bile. It strengthens the immune system, helps to fight infections of the urogenital system, increases the effectiveness of antibiotics and alleviates side-effects of antibiotic therapy.

Bifidobacterium lactis improves the system of intestinal defense, helps to produce B-group vitamins and vitamin K and counteracts the invasion of pathogenic bacteria. Moreover, it influences the secretion of interleukin 10, having anti-inflammatory effect and supports cells in the production of mucin – a substance being the component of protective bilayer of mucus.

Summing up, Sanprobi Active & Sport is a dietary supplement primarily adjusted to the needs of people taking care about safe physical activity. The preparation helps to seal intestinal barrier, counteracts its dysfunctions, decreases inflammation and increases immunity to infections. The preparation is recommended as prophylaxis to sportsmen, especially those who practice endurance and endurance-strength disciplines as well as other physically active people.

Strengthening intestinal barrier is also recommended to people during antibiotic therapy and people taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, proton pump inhibitors and oral iron preparations.
