FSN Glutamine is a dietary supplement, in the composition of which there is crystal-clear glutamate, enriched in vitamin B6. The preparation appears in the comfortable-to-use form of powder, is easily soluble in water and has a pleasant taste.

The supplement supports the process of developing muscle mass and positively influences physical efficiency. It perfectly protects from post-workout muscle catabolism and may also shorten the time of regeneration after intensive training. Additionally, glutamine demonstrates a range of pro-health properties - it supports immunity, nourishes intestinal tract, improves memory and mental ability.

Glutamine is one of 20 amino acids that commonly appear in all proteins. The human organism is able to synthesize it on its own, but endogenously produced amounts are rarely sufficient to cover the needs of the organism. Additionally, the need for glutamine rapidly increases during a disease, under the influence of stress or intensive physical effort. Among the organs that utilize most of glutamine there are primarily skeletal muscles, kidneys, intestines and liver.

Glutamine play a lot of various functions in the organism - it conditions proper nitrogen metabolism, is essential for the immune system, constitutes valuable fuel for the brain and nourishes the intestinal tract.

The activity of this supplement is reinforced by the presence of vitamin B6. It takes part in the metabolism of amino acids, is a precursor of coenzymes controlling the production of neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, noradrenaline, gamma-aminobutyric acid), takes part in the transformations of homocysteine. Some studies suggest that it may also intensify the secretion of the growth hormone.

Glutamine in sports supplementation
Supplementation with glutamine is a common practice among sportsmen. It is attributed the abilities to develop muscle mass and decrease post-workout muscle soreness. Anabolic properties of glutamine are questionable, but it definitely has positive influence on a range of parameters, on which effort abilities and muscle strength are dependent.

Maintaining glutamine level on a high level is essential for people exposed to intensive physical effort. Scientists proved close correlation between the concentration of glutamine and sports abilities. It was also proven in the studies that in overtrained sportsmen, experiencing chronic fatigue, the level of glutamine was considerably lower than in people in optimal form.

Glutamine has anticatabolic effect and prevents the decrease of the level of BCAA amino acids. They are essential amino acids and their deficiency leads to decreasing the pace of protein synthesis. It was proven in tests that along with decreasing the concentration of glutamine, the level of leucin was decreased by 23%, the level of valine by 27% and the level of isoleucine by 33%. Studies also confirm that introducing glutamine to BCAA supplementation allows to increase muscle mass and improve effort abilities.

Glutamine stimulates the secretion of the growth hormone (GH), which is conducive to anabolic processes and increases lipolysis of fatty tissue. It was proven in a few studies that during 90 minutes after taking 2 g of glutamine, the level of GH was increased four times.

Glutamine may shorten the time that is needed for effective post-workout regeneration. It decreases acidification of muscles and accelerates restoration of lost glycogen supplies. It may decrease muscle soreness after intensive physical effort.

Support for the digestive system
Glutamine has positive influence on the digestive system, especially the condition of the intestines. It is one of three sources of “fuel” (next to glutamate and aspartate) for cells of intestinal epithelium, moreover, it helps to maintain proper number and height of intestinal villi. It is reflected in the improvement of work of the digestive system and the increase of the absorption of nutrients.

Supplementation with glutamate is conducive to tightening of intestinal barrier and is recommended in increased intestinal permeability. The so-called “intestinal permeability” is a common problem among professional sportsmen. Excessive physical effort is to blame, during which free radicals are produced in large amounts and oxidative stress is increased, which leads to cell damage.

Immunity boost
Glutamine is essential for the production of many cells of the immune system. It is required by lymphocytes, macrophages and neutrophils. They are engaged in early, unspecific immune response of the organism.

Supplementation with glutamine promotes the balance of lymphocytes Th1/Th2. Disturbing this balance is characteristic to disease conditions, as it inhibits recognition and effective elimination of pathogens.

Glutamine may modulate the functions of the immune system and the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is conducive to limiting the activity of the protein complex NF-kB, which is reflected in decreasing the size of inflammations.

It was proven in the studies on rodents that supplementation with glutamine increases the level of heat shock proteins (HSP). They are released in response to cellular stress and help to protect other proteins from damages. The family of HSP 60 proteins in this group strongly influences the activity of the immune system, stimulates cells of congenital and acquired immunity.

Improvement of cognitive functions
Glutamine may be used as a nootropic agent. It is often said that it is “fuel for the brain”, as it serves the production of two important neurotransmitters - glutamic acid and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Both are related to thinking processes, memory and mood.

Glutamate is an excitatory neurotransmitter, i.e. the main mediator of quick transmission in the brain. It takes part in forming memory and is responsible for synaptic plasticity. Increasing its activity may not only improve memory, but also strengthen other cognitive functions, such as reasoning, fluency and creativity. GABA, in turn, is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, the task of which is to limit excessive brain stimulation. Increasing the concentration of GABA may reduce the symptoms of anxiety, providing a pleasant feeling of relaxation and improving sleep quality.

To sum up, FSN Glutamine is a universal preparation, which will work both in sports and pro-health supplementation. Physically active people may count on facilitating the process of regeneration and the improvement of effort abilities. It is worth supplementing this preparation for health in order to strengthen immunity and improve conditions of the intestinal system.
