Glutamine and taurine are the two most widespread endogenous amino acids in the body. The first one belongs to protein amino acids, the second one is not built into the protein structure, but abundantly occurs in skeletal muscles, retina, heart, and brain. Both glutamine and taurine perform a number of important functions in the body. Unfortunately, these amino acids are underestimated and very often wrongly omitted in sports supplementation.

Specialists argue that preparations containing glutamine and taurine should be the basis for supplementation of physically active people. The high level of glutamine provides a solid protection against the breakdown of muscle fibers and accelerates the regeneration of the body. Glutamine also acts as a nitrogen carrier, which makes it an important agent in creating an anabolic environment that promotes the expansion of muscle mass. Taurine is mainly credited for being a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator. It is commonly used by professional sportsmen to accelerate regeneration, reduce muscle pain and fatigue. An important function of taurine is that it helps to transport other compounds (e.g. creatine) to tissues.

Glutamine and taurine-based supplements work well in periods of body’s weakening, caused by excessive physical or intellectual effort, a disease or stress. The contribution of both amino acids to the functioning of the immune system and the regulation of the body's inflammatory response cannot be overestimated.
