OLIMP Flexagen is an innovative composition of two forms of collagen: native, type II and collagen hydrolysate, enriched with a complex of minerals: calcium and phosphorus (Calci-K™, Albion®), manganese and copper in the form of amino acid chelates Albion®, magnesium and vitamins: C, B6. The preparation helps to maintain healthy joints, improves their functioning and supports maintaining their proper structure.

Collagen belongs to the group of fibrillar proteins which take part in building connective tissue, tendons, muscles, cartilages and skin. This compound demonstrates structural functions and is characterized by high resistance to riving and also makes connective tissue more resilient.

Collagen proteins, regardless of the kind and place of occurrence are characterized by the ability to create specific structure – dextrorotatory, extended superhelix with a unique amino acid composition that demonstrates high resistance to the activity of proteolytic enzymes (i.a. trypsin, chymotrypsin, pepsin).

Collagen is a key component of extracellular matrix (constitutes around 60% of dry mass). In the composition of the extracellular matrix there are mainly collagen fibers built of collagen type II and also collagen type IX and XI. Moreover, in the matrix there is also water and proteoglycans. Collagen type II is produced by chondrocytes and occurs mostly in cartilage and vitreous humor.

Collagen along with proteoglycans is responsible for maintaining proper structure and function of cartilage. Collagen is a major component that builds connective tissue (tendons, ligaments cartilage, bone, and blood vessels) from the group of fibrous proteins (i.e. scleroprotein), representing a quarter of the content of protein in the body. It is composed of amino acids (glycine, hydroxylysine, hydroxyproline and proline). Distinguished are eight types of collagen located in different parts of the human body. The source of the acquisition is gelatin (a component of the connective tissue of animal origin). It occurs most frequently in the form of processed collagen hydrolyzate characterized by a high and a good absorbency of amino acids. Recommended in sports supplementation and physically active people, as well as during convalescence after injuries and certain diseases. Available as mono-preparation supplement or of multi-compound supplement (usually also containing chondroitin, hyaluronic acid, and ascorbic acid).
Dosage: 10-20 g per day.


 

Vitamin C

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) it is a vitamin soluble in body fluids, can be taken from foods (fruits and vegetables), or as drug derived synthetically. Dosage: The demand is 60-80 mg daily. It does not limit the ability to consume higher doses. Some side effects may occur only with longer

Ascorbic acid

Ascorbic acid – vitamin C. Its biologically active form is the L-isomer, which negatively rotates the polarised light, so that it is a dextroisomer (laevorotatory vitamin C does not exist). Hence, it promotes also wound healing and increases the durability of capillary vessel. It is involved in transformations of tyrosine and carnitine as well as of some nutrients, so that it affects metabolism. It can also have an impact on the nervous system functions, as it reduces mental fatigue.

Higher supply of vitamin C is especially recommended in the periods of more intensive body system burden, after infections and in order to accelerate regeneration. The indications for increased supply of the vitamin are also hard physical work or intensive trainings.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine, pyridoxal, pyridoxamine) is soluble in the liquid. It participates in the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Calcium

Information

Calcium (element chem. symbol Ca, atomic no. 20, the group of alkaline earth metals) is the basic building substance of bones and teeth, in which stored is 99% of the element, in the form of hydroxylapatite. When building bones and teeth, phosphorus is very important in the right proportion. It is a base-forming element and activator of many enzymes (ATPase) necessary to release the energy of ATP. It has a significant effect on blood clotting and regulates blood pressure and neuromuscular conductivity. Thanks to the reduced permeability of cell membranes, it soothes the symptoms of food allergies. Calcium is actively involved in the metabolism of iron interacts with vitamins A, C and D and phosphorus, magnesium. Natural source of calcium are animal products (dairy products, sardines, salmon, sprats eaten with bones) and plant products (nuts, soybeans, sunflower seeds).
