Mood Positive 5-HTP Mood Positive 5-HTP

Natrol Mood Positive 5-HTP is a dietary supplement that contains 5-Hydroxytryptophan, which is extracted from high quality extract from the seeds of African plant Griffonia simplicifolia. The supplement has been enriched with theanine (amino acid with relaxing properties), vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid. The deficiency of these substances occurs in mood disorder and psychological equilibrium.

5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) is an intermediate product of the synthesis of biologically active compounds – serotonin and melatonin, which are derived from an essential in the body system amino acid – tryptophan. It shows a very well bioavailability after oral dosing, because 70% of applied dose reaches the bloodstream and the brain, where it is transformed to serotonin. 5-HTP absorption depends on the presence of other amino acids. Due to this fact, it may be applied together with food and its efficiency will not be reduced.

5-HTP – activated tryptophan
Contrary to tryptophan, 5-HTP is not used in niacin production and proteins synthesis so it shows its full activity in the central nervous system. Furthermore, it avoids tryptophan conversion into 5-Hydroxytryptophan by the tryptophan hydroxylase enzyme, which reduces the speed of serotonin synthesis. It has been demonstrated that in depression the activity of this enzyme is reduced. Moreover, the conversion may be impaired by many factors – stress, insulin resistance, vitamin B6 and magnesium deficiency.

Serotonin – what is it?
Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT) is a one of three main neurotransmitters from the monoamines group (next to dopamine and noradrenaline). In the body system, it is derived from a one of exogenous amino acids – tryptophan. In the central nervous system, serotonin is responsible for regulation of sleep, depression, anxiety, aggression, appetite, temperature, sexual behavior and pain.

How does 5-HTP work?
Mechanism of 5-HTP action is based on increasing the dopamine concentration in the central nervous system. However, the research has shown that oral dosing of this compound increases also the amount of melatonin, dopamine, noradrenaline and β-Endorphin. This outstanding ability to increase the amount of other neurotransmitters and substances in the central nervous system brings numerous beneficial effects not related directly with serotonin level increase.

Use in depression treatment
Much research has proved that 5-HTP shows strong anti-depressive and anti-anxiety properties, comparable to such antidepressants as fluoxetine (known by trade name Prozac). What is also interesting, 5-HTP produces its therapeutic effects quickly, while in the case of antidepressants it requires longer use. The dosage of 5-HTP in depression and anxiety varies from 50 mg to 300 mg per day.

Use in sleep disorders treatment
5-HTP proved itself to be effective in insomnia treatment. It improves

the quality of sleep by extending REM sleep. It is recommended to dose 100 mg 2 hours before sleep and then 100 mg 30 minutes before sleep. If there is no effect, the dose may be increased to 200–300 mg before sleep.

Theanine – occurs naturally in green tea leafs. It shows psychoactive properties because it easily crosses the blood-brain barrier. It stabilizes the mood, calms down and it helps moderate signs of stress and anxiety.

Relaxation
The researchers believe that theanine is responsible for relaxing properties of green tea, as it affects the intensity of alpha waves, because it influences the activity of particular neurotransmitters, including dopamine and serotonin. It is quite unusual that this amino acid may increase vigilance and mind clearance, and at the same time it induces a state of rest and deep relaxation.

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine chloride) – is essential for the synthesis of neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin and noradrenaline), it enables the nervous system to work properly. It has been proved that it reduces the risk of Parkinson's disease and it shows positive influence on the behavior of autistic children.

Folic acid (vitamins B9 or B11) – it takes part in the synthesis of important neurotransmitters (dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin) and it allows conversion of homocysteine to methionine. Its deficiency in the body system leads to megaloblastic anemia. It results from the impaired DNA synthesis, which leads to disruptions in the cell cycle. Moreover, disorders of central nervous system may occur because the CNS needs this vitamin for proper functioning.

Vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin) – it takes part in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. It allows the nucleic acids synthesis, improves the central nervous system functions, and takes part in the formation of neurolemma, which protects nerve cells. It takes part in neurotransmitters production. It brings psychological balance and good mood. Vitamin B12 deficiency manifests itself as a complex syndrome. Its main symptoms are neurological, hematological and psychiatric signs.

To sum it all up, Natrol Mood Positive 5-HTP is a multi-functional dietary supplement. Its action is based on scientific and clinical researches. It is highly recommended for improving general well being, sleep quality and for reduction of depression and anxiety.

Chloride

Information

Chlorine (chemical element from the group of halogens) - in the natural form of gas it is poisonous and water-soluble (until recently used as a disinfectant in the water supply system, now replaced by fluorination). It is chemically active element. It is used in the form of sodium chloride (NaCl) and potassium (KCl). It participates in the process of digestion and maintains acid-base balance in the body, removes toxic products of metabolism in the liver (antitoxin). Natural source of chlorine for the body is salt and bladderwrack.
Chlorine deficiency can occur due to excessive sweating, vomiting, causing digestive tract problems. It also causes loss of hair and teeth.
Excess chlorine, for example. Drink excessive amounts of chlorinated water, destroys bacterial flora and vitamin E.
Dosage: Daily dose should not exceed 15 grams.

Folic acid

Information

Folic acid - also known as vitamin B9, is a synthetic form of naturally occurring folates. It needs to be transformed to folates in order to be biologically active also in the human organism. Therefore, its supplementation is recommended to people who do not have problems with methylation processes.

The majority of people associate folic acid with the period of pregnancy. It is definitely a justified association. Proper supply of vitamin B9 conditions correct development of the fetus and prevents disorders of neural tube defects in a baby.

Supplementation with folic acid also demonstrates positive influence on the functions of the nervous system of adults. Some sources say that it is conducive to maintaining beneficial emotional states. Moreover, folic acid takes part in the process of erythropoiesis, thanks to which it enables efficient production of red cells.

Supplementation with folic acid should be also considered by men who deal with low sperm quality. It was proven that complementing the level of vitamin B9 is conducive to increasing reproductive abilities of men.

Cyanocobalamin

Information

What is cyanocobalamin?

Cyanocobalamin is a basic, the most commonly met form of vitamin B12 in vitamin B complexes and multivitamins available on the market.

Vitamin B12 is the most known for its influence on neurology. It takes part in building and regenerating myelin sheaths of neurons, thanks to which it contributes to the protection of the nervous system against damages. Because of the ability to increase the level of S-Adenosyl methionine, vitamin B12 may contribute to more efficient synthesis of many neurotransmitters, thanks to which it positively influences well-being and psychical condition.

This vitamin is also engaged in the process of blood production and its deficiencies contribute to the creation of megaloblastic anemia. Its deficits may also concern vegetarians and vegans, elderly people, people with absorption disorders and those using drugs neutralizing gastric acid.

Cyanocobalamin is included in the composition of many complex vitamin supplements that may be found in the offer of muscle-zone.pl.

Tryptophan

Information

Tryptophan is one of the nine essential amino acids that require high protein food consumption, mono-preparation supplements tryptophan, an amino acid type and EAA-day nutrients and protein, which is essential in the process of protein synthesis. A derivative of 5-HTP in the decarboxylation is a precursor of serotonin ((tissue hormone having an effect on blood pressure and peristalsis), and the subsequent processes of melatonin (the hormone sleep). It is used for synthesis of nicotinic acid (niacin, known as vitamin PP). The due to the appetite suppressant is also used in certain weight loss formulations.
Even a small deficiency is dangerous for the course of many physiological processes, can cause the nervous system deterioration of mood, insomnia, and disturbances in the digestive process. Tryptophan deficiency in the long term leads to depression and neurological disorders.
Mono-preparation supplements of tryptophan are recommended as a means of reducing the stress and reducing the feeling of insomnia. A part of the nutritional supplements type of EAA and all-day aminoacids, it is a valuable component of protein supplements. Available in store www.muscle-zone.pl
Doses recommended in supplementation: 500 - 2000 mg at bedtime, alternatively 500 - 1000 mg before meals.
