Probiotics - micro-organisms having beneficial effects on the organism. To be classified as probiotic, the following conditions must be met: immunity to digestive juices and the ability to nest in the digestive tract. The basic probiotics include lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus) and yeast (Saccharomyces boulardii). They increase the immunity of the body (also show a potential in the treatment of cancer), prevent of bacterial infection, diarrhea and enhance assimilability of certain food products (including lactose - milk sugar). Natural source of obtaining them are dairy products (cheese, yogurt, kefir), silage (cucumbers, cabbage) and some meats.
