Source Naturals B-1 is a dietary supplement with vitamin B1 and magnesium, characterised by a high neuroprotective potential. The preparation is beneficial for the condition of the nervous system, reduces the feeling of fatigue and improves the psychoemotional condition.

Vitamin B1 (thiamin) is one of the earliest discovered vitamins. Chemically speaking, it is built out of two rings - a thiazole ring and a pyrimidine ring, connected with each other by a methylene bridge. Thiamin is a water-soluble compound.

Vitamin B1 is absorbed in the small intestine, and from there it is delivered to the organism's tissues. As a result of phosphorylation, the compound transforms into thiamin pyrophosphate (TPP), which plays a role of a coenzyme.

Vitamin B1 is responsible for regulating many important physiological processes in the organism. It performs the function of a coenzyme for many enzymatic reactions connected with such processes as metabolism and amino acid transformations. Moreover, thiamin supports the nervous and circulatory systems and has a beneficial effect on mental condition.

Vitamin B1 deficiency manifests itself through a low mood, gastrointestinal disorders, reduced concentration, the feeling of fatigue and neurological disorders. A long-lasting thiamin deficiency leads to the illness called beriberi, whose symptoms are circulatory system disorders, eating disorders, weight loss, loss of muscle tissue, and swellings.

The organs particularly susceptible to damage caused by a thiamin deficiency are: the thalamus, the cerebellum and the brainstem.

Hypervitaminosis B1 is a rare occurrence, as the organism deals very well with its excess by removing it with urine.

Magnesium is a mineral component responsible for activating more than 300 enzymes. Apart from that, it improves neural transmission, participates and DNA and RNA synthesis and plays an important role in muscle contractility and mineral management.

Magnesium deficiencies manifest themselves through general weakness of the organism, increased fatigue, calf contractions and a worsened condition of hair and nails.

Support for the immune system
Vitamin B1 has a metabolic and structural function in the nervous system. The first one (enzymatic) is connected with the activity of thiamin-dependent enzymes. Its deficiency has been proven to cause a decrease in the level of enzymes that participate in Krebs cycle: pyruvate dehydrogenase, α-ketaglutarate dehydrogenase and transketolase. That results in metabolism disorders and energy storage, as well as distorted biosynthesis of nucleic acids, which can lead to the occurrence of neurological symptoms.

Vitamin B1's structural (non-enzymatic) function is connected with its participation in building nerve cells and their regeneration, thanks to which it contributes to the improvement of neurotransmission.

Moreover, thiamin participates in capturing neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, whose decreased concentration causes neurodegenerative disorders, and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), whose deficiency causes cerebellum function disorders.

Thamin and neurodegenerative diseases
A positive effect of thiamin has been demonstrated in Parkinson's disease. It has been observed that administering thiamin can contribute to an increase in dopamine concentration, a reduction of symptoms and an improvement of motor functions.

It has also been documented that in the case of Alzheimer's disease, there is a decrease in the activity of thiamin-dependent enzymes, which suggests that vitamin B1 administration can bring positive results and support their activity.

To sum up, Source Naturals B-1 is a product recommended for those who are in the risk group of vitamin B1 deficiency. The supplement is helpful in reducing nervous system disorders and contributes to the minimisation of symptoms such as weakness, lack of concentration and increased fatigue. The additional component, magnesium, increases the product's effects and eliminates the symptoms of exhaustion.

Calcium

General information

Calcium (element chem. symbol Ca, atomic no. 20, the group of alkaline earth metals) is the basic building substance of bones and teeth, in which stored is 99% of the element, in the form of hydroxylapatite. When building bones and teeth, phosphorus is very important in the right proportion. It is a base-forming element and activator of many enzymes (ATPase) necessary to release the energy of ATP. It has a significant effect on blood clotting and regulates blood pressure and neuromuscular conductivity. Thanks to the reduced permeability of cell membranes, it soothes the symptoms of food allergies. Calcium is actively involved in the metabolism of iron interacts with vitamins A, C and D and phosphorus, magnesium. Natural source of calcium are animal products (dairy products, sardines, salmon, sprats eaten with bones) and plant products (nuts, soybeans, sunflower seeds). Absorption takes place in the small intestine (less in the colon), it has an effect on the level of lactose, insoluble fibre, organic acids, alkalinity (low pH). The best absorption have organic compounds (lactates, amino acid chelates etc.). Obstructing the absorption of calcium is caused by: phytic acid and oxalic acid as well as excess fat. Scientific studies have confirmed that the combination of calcium, magnesium, boron and vitamin D in dose 3 mg / 24h effectively prevent osteoporosis. Supplements on the market are both mono-preparation supplements (enriched with vitamin D3) and multi-component supplements, available at www.muscle-zone.pl.
Calcium deficiency disorders manifested in the construction of the bones (osteoporosis) and iron metabolism. The symptoms are: rickets, cramps and muscle tremor, osteoporosis.
Excess result
ing from an overdose of calcium supplements containing vitamin D3 for children and adults overdose of calcium (hypercalcemia). Symptoms of hypercalcemia are: lack of appetite, vomiting and constipation.
The dosage administered in various publications
are inconsistent: 800 - 1000 mg / 24 h (100 - 500 mg / 24h)
