Now Foods C-1000 with Bioflavonoids is a dietary supplement containing vitamin C (an ascorbic acid) in a suitably effective, yet safe dose. In addition, the effect of the vitamin C is supported by the extract of rosehip and citrus bioflavonoids. These components extend and enhance the action of the vitamin C.

Vitamin C (the ascorbic acid) – is essential for the proper functioning of the organism and must be supplied with food, because human beings are not capable of synthesising it. It is an important antioxidant, it maintains the proper antioxidant potential in the cell, likewise it is involved in the transfer of electrons between molecules. It plays an important role in the reactions of the conversion of tyrosine, the synthesis of adrenal steroids and norepinephrine, and also without it do not arise bile acids and carnitine.

Vitamin C deficiency – leads to tragic health consequences, including scurvy – a multiple organ disease whose main symptom is the destruction of a connective tissue. This situation takes place, because vitamin C is a coenzyme in the reactions of collagen maturation. This leads to spontaneous bleedings, muscles, joints and bones pain, pathological fractures, gingivitis and tooth loss. Other effects of vitamin C deficiency are also depression, osteoporosis, anemia, neurological disorders, recurrent infections, and an inflammation of mucosa.

Dosage: Although the recommended daily allowance (RDA) for vitamin C is 80 mg for women and 90 mg for men, you should remember that these are only the dose preventing the onset of scurvy.

The healing properties of vitamins are much bigger. It was not mentioned that the level of vitamin C very drastically decreases during emotional or physical stress. Each inflammation, health condition after surgery, bacterial infection, poisoning toxins, require higher doses of vitamin C.

It has been reported that athletes, physically active people, smokers and people with gastrointestinal disorders, have an increased requirement for this vitamin. Vitamin C supplementation should make people with impaired insulin economy and with hyperglycemia, because a high level of glucose in blood hinders the absorption and action of vitamin C and increases its excretion in the urine.

Fat burning/noradrenaline: Participation of vitamin C in the production of norepinephrine is particularly important for maintaining normal body composition. Noradrenaline is a major neurotransmitter in the nervous system, which also is largely responsible for lipolysis which the decomposition of the triglycerides in an adipose tissue.

Cortisol: Researchers have shown that taking high doses (1-1,5 g per day) of vitamin C resulted in a substantial reduction in a cortisol level. This is very important, especially for athletes and people on a diet, because cortisol is the hormone from one side catabolic (it hinders muscle building) and, on the other side, its chronically continuing high level leads to metabolic disorders, including accumulation of body fat.

Hypertension: High doses of the vitamin C reduce increased arterial blood pressure, which is one of the most common diseases related to the cardiovascular system. Chronically persistent hypertension leads to atherosclerosis. In one study it was shown that the monthly supplementation of ascorbic acid at a dose of 500mg daily was able to largely replace pharmaceutical drugs without showing side effects.

Heavy metals: Not commonly known feature of the vitamin C is its ability to remove heavy metals from the body, but this happens only in the case of an excess of the need to meet all the basic needs of the organism. In this case, the vitamin C can eliminate, among others: lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium and nickel. It is recommended the use of prebiotics in such treatment to prevent re- absorption of toxins that is reabsorbed in a large intestine.

Cancer diseases: Many disputes causes the use of the vitamin C in an anit-cancer therapy. There is visible a conflict between the strictly academic medicine and an alternative therapy. One thing is certain – there is a lot of evidences that the inclusion of the vitamin C in the anit-cancer therapy offers a number of advantages.

Many practitioners reported that the vitamin C prolonged the life of incurable sick patients. The vitamin C also inhibited the growth of cancer cells of the skin, destroying the cells of breast cancer through a factor causing accelerated apoptosis, improved well-being of patients and reduced the chronic pain.

Citrus bioflavonoids – show antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the formation of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins and by inhibiting the production of histamine. They seal the blood vessels by inhibiting the activity of proteolytic enzymes decomposing the connective tissue of vascular endothelium. They also increase their flexibility, have anti-swelling and anti- exudation properties.

To sum up, Now Foods C-1000 with Bioflavonoids is a dietary supplement designed for each person that cares about health. The use in the context of prevention and emergency brings extensive health benefits. The product under the supervision of a specialist can be used for therapeutic purposes, supporting the fight against considerable number of diseases. It is especially recommended for athletes and people who live in a chronic stress, because they need much more vitamin C than the average, healthy person.
