Hepatica Curcumin C3 Complex is a diet supplement containing patented, concentrated turmeric extract which is a source of active curcuminoids - curcumin, demethoxycurkumin and bisdemetoxycurcumin that exhibit anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antineoplastic activity. The recommended daily dose supplies the organism with the amount of active substances equal to 13 spoons of turmeric! This product contains 90 vegetable capsules, suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Curcumin is a polyphenolic compound that belongs to curcuminoids group. It is an intensive yellow dye present in turmeric (Curcuma longa), a plant known from millennia in holistic medicine as a versatile analgesic and antiseptic agent, in treatment of digestive system ailments, different kind of infections and skin disorders.

Currently, the biological activity of curcumin has been confirmed in many scientific studies. This substance has unique properties and because of them it can be a valuable preventive and healing agent for many civilization diseases.

Curcumin exhibits a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity, comparable to vitamin C and E. Oxidative stress, resulting from the excess of free oxygen radicals, can lead to damage of DNA, proteins, lipids and carbohydrates that build cell structures and to homeostasis disorders. Curcumin is a "sweeper" of free oxygen radicals, moreover, it has been shown in an animal model to inhibit peroxidation of membrane lipids. Curcumin can also affect the activation of genes responsible for coding antioxidant enzymes such as glutathione peroxidase or glutathione S-transferase, strengthening the natural antioxidant organism barrier.

Curcumin has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Oxidative stress is connected with the formation of inflammation in the organism. Free oxygen radicals intensify the inflammatory reaction that leads to further production increase of reactive oxygen species. Curcumin displays multidirectional anti-inflammatory activity. It inhibits the activation of the NF-кB factor involved in the regulation of genes coding proinflammatory cytokines; reduces the production of TNF-α, IL-1, IL-6 and IL-8; reduces the production of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and lipoxygenase (5-LOX). The effect on COX-2 and 5-LOX determines the analgesic properties of curcumin.

In light of the above facts, curcumin is a potential candidate to be a drug for the inflammation based diseases. To these diseases belong, among others, the following: cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, RA and cancer. Up to this point, several hundred papers have been published (including clinical trials) that show the efficacy of curcumin in the reduction of: cognitive disorders; inflammation in the brain; beta-amyloid accumulation (as observed in Alzheimer's disease); inhibition of vascular degeneration; decrease in hyperglycaemia and improvement in lipid profile. Most of these tests have been performed on animals.

The research has confirmed antineoplastic and chemopreventive properties of curcumin. Changes in the genetic material of cells, e.g. induced by DNA mutations are considered as a basis for the tumor development. Curcumin has a chemopreventive effect against many types of tumors. In animal studies, curcumin reduced the formation of skin, liver and lung tumors after the exposition to carcinogens. The best established, however, is its preventive activity against gastrointestinal cancer. The antineoplastic activity of curcumin is mainly based on inhibiting the proliferation and inducing the apoptosis of tumor cells.

Demethoxycurkumin and bis-dimethoxy-curcumin are natural derivatives of curcumin, that have different number of methoxy groups in the molecule. They exhibit similar activity to curcumin.

To sum up, Hepatica Curcumin C3 Complex is a formulation of many pro-health properties. Concentrated, sound portion of the extract enables to enjoy the benefits of curcumin, that are difficult to obtain just form eating turmeric and curry. This product is recommended as a prophylaxis of civilization diseases; as a support for the digestive system; for the reduction of inflammation, improvement of insulin sensitivity and lipid profile; or after the consultation with a doctor – as a supplement in inflammatory diseases.
