Doctor’s Best SAM-e is the best assimilable form of S-adenosylmethionine on the market. Specially used formula guarantees a wide and multidimensional spectrum of activity, including the improvement of the functioning of the central nervous system, at the same time stabilizing the immune response of the organism.

S-adenosylmethionine - is a compound appearing in the human organism, where it fulfills the function of a donor of methyl groups. Its presence allows to effectively regulate metabolic processes and the expression of concrete genes, contributing at the same time to the proper functioning of the organism as a whole. It was proven that SAMe helps to stabilize the mood and at the same time its supplementation may turn out to be effective in counteracting depression. However, it is not its only application, as cognitive functions are also improved and the reduction of inflammatory processes takes place, which brings relief especially to people suffering from degenerative disease of the joints.

The applied form of S-adenosylmethionine is characterized by the best assimilability on the market and after reaching the bloodstream, it is distributed in the free form, thanks to which it quickly reaches tissues, in which it may start its activity.

Melatonin and its transformations

S-adenosylmethionine occurs as a result of the combination of methionine, which is an exogenous amino acid (the organism is not able to synthesize it and it needs to be provided from outside) and ATP (the molecule produced during energy transformations). Metabolic processes of methionine are cyclical and encompass such compounds as S-adenosylhomocysteine and homocysteine.

High level of the latter in the blood serum demonstrates potential atherogenic effect (in other words, it accelerates the process of creation of atherosclerotic plaque in the artery), therefore, supplementation with B-group vitamin is important (folic acid, B6, B12), as their presence facilitates “finishing” the cycle of methionine transformations and prevents negative effects caused by the aggregation of homocysteine as well as SAM deficiency.

Importantly - the application of SAM does not contribute to the aggregation of the potentially harmful metabolite, such as homocysteine, therefore its application is safe.

Fight with depression

Deficiency of S-adenosylmethionine in the central nervous system was noticed by the scientists, among people with depression symptoms. There are two explanations for this fact.

One of them is most probably deficiency of folic acid, while others explain this as disorders of the enzyme functions, which controls the reactions of binding ATP with methionine.

Nevertheless, both explanations lead to the fact that “closing” of the cycle of methionine transformations is impossible.

Comparing the application of SAM to antidepressant drugs, we may draw surprising conclusions, as visible alleviation of the symptoms of the disease was observed.

Moreover, S-adenosylmethionine is a donor of methyl groups, which is especially important in the process of synthesis of neurotransmitters, such as acetylcholine, serotonin, noradrenaline, dopamine and melatonin, therefore its supplementation is reflected in considerable improvement of well-being, memory, cognitive functions of the system and also modulation of the rhythm sleep-wakefulness.

Masculinity at the highest level

A hormone associated with the feeling of masculinity is undoubtedly testosterone, produced in the testicles. This process, however, cannot be harmful, if the luteinizing hormone (LH), secreted by the pituitary gland does not appear in the environment. It turns out that methylation reactions controlled by SAM are crucial in the process of production of androgens and deficiency of this substance contributes to testosterone deficiency, which consequently results in disturbing male hormonal balance.

Healthy bone system

Two groups are especially prone to mechanical injuries in joints, which lead to the development of the degenerative disease - they are professional sportsmen and elderly people. Pain and movement impairment caused by inflammation is often treated with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which may negatively influence the functions of the stomach or kidneys. This effect is sometimes omitted, applying selective inhibitors of COX-2, however, they are not neutral for health.

There comes with help S-adenosylmethionine, which when applied to sick people in the study, equally effectively inhibited the development of inflammation, including pain and joint disfunctions. This provides enormous hopes for the improvement of the functioning of the musculoskeletal system.

To sum up, Doctor’s Best SAM-e is a highly specialist supplement having multidimensional influence on health. However, it is especially recommended to all, who care about the high quality of the preparation, proper condition of the osteoarticular system, endocrine system and especially the central nervous system.
